I know this is a silly questions but I have looked and cannot find frames for the 6x8 photos that we bought on the ship. I prefer not to special order them since I know they will cost alot. Has anyone found frames without having to have them specially made?

I got mine at Kohls. Though it says it is a 6x8, it is that floating type of frame.

Walmart and Kmart definitely have them. I think they're becoming a lot more popular now.

Same problem, different solution. We cut many of our pictures down to 5x7 (a normal size print) without losing any "detail". Others that you don't want to crop down you can get a larger frame and go to a frame shop and have mattes made so that you 6x8 fits in the matte. Sometimes when going down from an 8x10 frame to a 6x8 picture, you will want to do a double matte. Getting mattes made can be a lot cheaper (including the frame) than paying for the odd ball size of frame to fit your prints.

Hello gshoemate- Finding custom size frames for off sized prints can be a problem. We own a custom frame shop on Long Island and usually have a huge build up of "knock outs, or windows" from matting other jobs. Unfortunately we throw away a great deal of mats that would be ideal for your needs. Might I suggest that you go to any store and buy an 8 x 10 frame that you like and then send me a large self addressed envelope with stamps, and I'd be happy to send you, at no charge, a few mats cut to 8 x 10 with an opening 5 3/4 x 7 3/4 to hold your print. Tell me your color preferences. I just hate throwing away perfectly good material when there is someone who could use it. If you have any questions, either post or PM me.

I saw them last year at Wolf Cmera/Ritz Camera. Don't know if they still carry them.

I just bought a frame at Wal-Mart this past weekend. It was marked 6x8, matted down to a 3 1/2 x 5, but I removed the matting. Make sure you look closely, even for the ones that don't appear to the eye to be a 6x8. It's tricky.

And am I the only one who would prefer a 5x7?! It's not just on the Disney ship. I have been on other cruise lines too and the 6x8 is becoming more popular. I feel like it's because they can make more money on them. And like the spa personnel, the photographers are contracted and I believe many lines use the same contractor.

I haven't bought a 6x8 in a long time, but reading this thread encourages me that it may be easier to find the frames now. I had bought a 6x8 about 2 years ago and I looked at some of the same places listed here and the only place I could find a frame was at Ritz Camera. Like jrabbit, I almost cut mine down to a 5x7, and wished they would just print them like that instead. When I first saw 6x8 pictures, the ship also had 5x7 and indeed the 6x8's cost more. Then they seemd to phase out the 5x7s altogether.

Sorry to rant on-- this is a pet peeve of mine. Although I feel much better now that I got that off my chest! ;)
