Framed baby carriers/backpack carriers?

Are they prohibited from being taken into parks as I have read that backpacks bigger than 24" x 15" x 18" are prohibited- would this included framed baby carriers?

We are considering taking our framed backpack carrier which converts into a stroller as our "back up" stroller since we read about the price hikes in rental (youngest kids will be 19mo, 4 and 5 when we travel so originally we'd said we'd take a stroller for 19mo and rent a single/double if needed for our 4 and 6 year old, now with the price hikes we're thinking we'll take a stroller and backpack stroller as back up and if on the rare occasion all 3 sleep at the same time we'll carry the youngest, 4 year old - who is teeeeny- in the backpack stroller and 5 year old in the stroller)

So does anyone know if they are allowed into the parks (as i don't want to bother packing it and not being able to use it)

I don't think they are prohibited, but in MHO they are very inconvenient for Disney. The baby can ride in the soft carrier onto rides and stay in it in shows. However, you'd have to go through the hassle of taking the baby off before doing these things. I'd recommend a double stroller adn a soft carrier.

We have our mei tais we'll be taking with us (youngest son is a worn baby :goodvibes and has been from birth) but being Brits I wasn't too sure how well we'd hold up to all day babywearing in the florida heat (we travel august and can't chose an alternate time as it's for a dis-wedding)

DD4 and DS5 will walk the majority of the time (we're a non-car family so they are both used to walking several kilometres a day, especially on vacation as we hike alot too) so I didn't really want to take a double and have it half full 90% of the time as having 2 close in age babies i know from experience there is no such thing as an easy to use double stroller, just easIER to use ones :lmao: ;) I was thinking a backpack stroller we could take and fit in a locker if not needed or just carry as a larger backpack.

I have a 2yo and a 6yo and we did great w/ one stroller and a Beco (I left my mei tai home and borrowed a Beco...the buckles were a bit easier in the parks). Whenever we carried the 2yo in the Beco the 6yo wanted to get into the stroller..but really didn't ask to otherwise. I think if the stroller wasn't available, she would have done fine.

We have a frame carrier we use at home and there is no way I would have taken that to WDW. Way to big and bulky! Maybe look into an inexpensive (like $20) umbrella stroller for the 4yo if you are worried about it?

That all said, the 6yo and I are traveling down to WDW in July for her 7th birthday...just the two of us. So we won't have a stroller this trip. I'm more concerned about how much less crap I can take w/ us into the parks (nowhere to stash the princess dress or extra clothes!). My plan so far is to bring a tote bag w/ bigger things and stash it in a locker for the day.

Not sure how much that helps?

We used a backpack carrier for both of our kids as long as our backs could handle it. We loved it!! I loved that for meals at CS I could leave him in the backpack because it had a kickstand and during Playhouse Disney they both liked sitting in the propped up backpack during the show. DH & I got it down to a fine science with wearing the backpack, with child in it, through the line and as we got close to the front one would get the kid out while the person wearing the backpack would slide the backpack off. We never slowed the line down while doing this so we didn't inconvenience anyone. And our kids loved being up higher than when in a stroller.

LOL @ the stroller-free luggage issue, between my eldest and 2nd we have almost 6 year gap and the time between eldest not wanting a stroller and 2nd being born it was an eye opener how reliant you get on the stroller basket!

Well having talked to DH and the kids they all seemed most shocked I'd even worried about it- all 4 of them (little one not having much of an opinion so not being counted) had just assumed it'd be like every other vacation we take and they'd be walking and the baby would be carried (DH actually pointed out we best start trying him in a stroller soon as he's really, really not used to ever going in one)

My parents also seemed extremely surprised i was considering a stroller for ds5 and dd4 as apparently when they took me at that age I never once asked about a stroller and when i slept my dad carried me... I guess I am seeing now where my carry the kids nature comes from (being raised by hippies :rotfl: ;) ) my dad has assumed he would be helping carry anyone who fell asleep on the way to the bus like he did in the 80s :thumbsup2 (gotta love young active grandpas!)

So it looks like i am back to the original plan of just taking one for the baby and the babyhawk & freehand with a view to possibly buying one of the $40 strollers from epcot if needed!

Thanks everyone for the replies though, always useful to get an opinion outside of the family.
