I fractured my pinky toe 2 days ago, and I am leaving for Disneyland next week!!! Never thought that I will be on a wheelchair at Disney :(

I have no idea how to wait in line with the wheelchair?

I also purchased the picnic tickets for World of Color. Will they let me be in the wheelchair area?

Any information is appreciated. I totally have no clue. Thanks!

By next week, you might be OK. I didn't let a stress fracture on my foot get me down and still walked around the park. Naproxen was my friend, though :thumbsup2

Ya, if you just tape it real good and wear supportive shoes, you'll probably be just fine!

oh no!! how did that happen? my mom broke her pinky toe and the toe next to the pinky a few months ago! they were pretty bad breaks and for the healing and pain to completely subside took about 2 months!! We are going to disneyland in july and thought at the rate her foot was healing we'd be using a wheelchair! But luckily things sped up and we no longer need to worry...phewf.

we have never needed a wheelchair nor been with someone who needed one at disneyland. I wish i could help you out! Rest up!

When I broke my little toe, that's all I did. For about a week, and then I walked, ran, jumped and everything else just fine.

If you're in a wheelchair for WOC you'll still need a fastpass but you'll be allowed into the handicapped access area. Most of the lines for the rides are "mainstreamed" meaning you just stay in the wheelchair through the line like everybuddy else, and park off to the side when you get to the ride. If that's not the case, the CM will be happy to tell you where to go. :lmao:

Hopefully you won't need a wheelchair by then. If you do, you'll need a buff friend or family member to push you around. DLR seems flat but it has enough "hills" to make pushing tiring, especially if it's hot.

Since I'm a klutz, I've broken toes more than I care to remember. :sad2: Sometimes taping helps; other times the tape just makes it more painful and I resort to flip flops for a few daze.

Last time I went to DL, my brother rolled is ankle pretty good a couple of days before we went. It was bad enough that he didn't think he'd be able to comfortable walk through the park all day, so we got a wheelchair for him.

As far as line access is concerned, many of the newer lines seem to have been designed with wheelchair access in mind, meaning that he could go through the regular queue w/ his wheelchair for the most part. On a number of older rides they had "handicap entrances" to the rides. For POTC, it was basically going in the exit and getting on at that point. Other lines were different. In each case, however, the CM at the front of the line should be able to let you know how to handle the line w/ a wheelchair.

Thanks for replying my thread and providing useful information.

I fractured the pinky toe by hitting the corner of a wall. Not the first time my toe hit the wall, but this time is the most serious. Oh boy, just 6 days before the Disneyland trip.

My podiatrist showed me how to tape the toes and gave me a special shoe (sandal). Not sure if I will still be crippled when I get to DLR next Wednesday.

The funny thing is my podiatrist said he probably will see me next week in DLR because there is a "Foot and Ankle Conference" June 9-12 with 1,000 attendees. He was joking that I can page him if needed.

Obviously this is your body and you know it best, but I can't really see how fracturing a pinky toe merits using a wheelchair. I've broken multiple toes (simultaneously) and have just had to tape them together--no wheelchair required.

Good luck to you. If you do end up needing a wheelchair, just make sure you go to Town Hall and get a Guest Asisstance Card.

I'll echo most others...

I'm betting you'll be fine. I did the same thing when I was in younger. I just taped it, and it was fine. I should also add that I had to do a week of rehearsals and an entire run (two weeks) of The Wizard of Oz in dance shoes while taped. What a month that was!! ;)

I'd start out walking. If it just gets unbearable, take a break and rest or rent a chair from DL. Have a great time!!! Always a bummer when that stuff happens right before vaca.

You do not need a GAC if you are in a wheelchair.

I think you should have it cut off.

Ronnie Lott who was an amazing football player for the San Fran 49ers had part of his finger amputated so that he could play in a play-off game.

I think Disney is just as important.:rotfl2:

Bring lots of medical tape. Use paper tape for the first layer, then waterproof med tape for the outer layer. The paper tape will help the toes breath, and the WP tape will prevent it from falling off on the wet rides. I have broken various toes over the years, and taping is the best way to go. It WILL be sore walking, more of a dull ache than anything else. Bring ibruprofen (an over the counter anti inflammatory drug, such as ADVIL, etc) for the pain with you in the parks and you should be fine.

I broke mine too, a couple of months ago. About 3 weeks before my DL trip, actually, so I had more time to heal.

The first night was the first by FAR, yikes it was bad. I saw a podiatrist too. I taped it for 2-3 weeks, but only wore the shoe the dr gave me for a few days. I work at TDS, and i am on my feet my whole shift, and I did not miss a day. I wore Crocs for 3-4 weeks, my regular sneakers hurt though. (Dr said Crocs were ok). So, you might be ok.

I still get pain here and there, like when it is going to rain, achy though, not sharp unbearable pain.

If you do indeed need wheelchair at DL. Get a ECV instead. I rented one from Docerts in Orange County. Best idea I have had in a long time. :) This lets you take out of park to your hotel. I never got assistance card as I could walk I was just very slow. Gl Hope it heals fast. I have hung my pinkster up on the bed legs a few time. Funny how you can jump up and down with a broken baby toe LOL, but each time it happens that is what I do.

Yeah, I broke my little toe before too. Bring lots of extra tape, asprin, and when you are in the hotel room see if there is any way for them to get you an ice pack, or at least a plastic bag for the ice. Keep that foot up and iced for a while at the end of the day. Good luck !

Makes perfect sense to me! :lmao:

OMG this is my husband's answer to everything! :rotfl:

Today is the 3rd day. I do feel better with the toes taped and the shoe doctor gave me. I probably don't need a wheelchair. Just I walk very slowly. Luckily, I stay right across from Disneyland. I can go back to get a rest if needed.

I'm glad you're feeling better--I hope you continue to improve! Have a magical trip!
