Fractured ankle 3 weeks before disney

I am dreading the looks on the bus loading areas when everyone is pissed we get on ahead of them and i look fine since there is not in a c ast its just an ankle brace
one who care what other people think it is your vacation and you need to enjoy it and it can be a long walk to and from the busses and the hotels no longer have wheel chair and it could be a long walk to rom the buss stop to your room ( get the picture) and most people are too busy with what they are doing to even notice ( I hurt my foot at disney could not walk at all so I was in a wheel chair ( I have be mistake for being in my early 20 and do look very young) you could not tell by looking at me I hurt my foot ( nothing on it since it happened at disney) and no one gave me a second look in fact there was a lot of really nice people someone pointed out where I need to wait for the bus at one of the parks. another offers to push mess that I could get up the ramp ( long story on that one) but any ways most people are nice and helpful and if someone says something to you make a funny comet like yah fractured my ankle but you should see the other guy I am sure you could come up with some thing a little clever to say to someone that dose not think you are disabled or you could just politely smile and move a long.

Hi! Just a quick tip for you - if you are going to be in the Parks/Disney Springs (there is ECV rental at DS too - same rate/rules as at the Parks) for more than a few days, you *may* want to check in to an offsite rental vendor. Typically you can save some money, have the ECV delivered to your Disney Resort Hotel and then you have it to use around the Resort, as well as at DS, and all the parks.

You can rent at the Parks from Disney, but just know that if you plan to Park hop, you can "hop" your rental as well - as long as the Park you "hop" to has some available. Depending on the time of year/time of day, some Parks do run out of ECVs, and you have to wait until one is returned by a guest who is leaving that Park for the day. You can't rent one ECV from Disney for the length of your stay, or even for the entire day - you must return the Disney units to the location where they are rented.

Thank you

Renting a scooter from offsite is much less expensive. I think I paid less then $200 for 8 days last year. If you are staying onsite you will probably need one for the resort. if you rent from the approved places they will drop it off at bell services and you pick it up when you arrive. I had trouble with mine last year and called the company and had a new one in less than 30 minutes. No more issues after that.

If you plan on renting from the parks then your bus experience would be mainstream. Get a folding came or folding crutches for the commute to-from the parks. Those can be stowed in a locker when you rent the ecv.

How long is it until the trip? I tend to heal fast but for the 3 ankle fractures I've had that didn't require pins, I think I just stayed off my feet for three or four days then went back to walking on it. My one experience using an ecv in wdw makes me certain that anyone I see using an ecv really needs them.

I don't mean to heal-speed shame you here, if that's a thing, but if it were me I would be planning on walking; just a little slower. Of course only you will know whether an ECV or whatever is the right choice but I can say this much with a certainty, they don't always make it easier. I once commended a friend of ours with MS for using her arm brace crutches right up until it was impossible to avoid transitioning to an electric chair. The reality was that up until a point, getting through with crutches was easier than using the chair.

On a completely different take on your plight ... if you do decide to use an ECV and you live anywhere near Michigan, I will loan you one. I'm developing some new technology for mobility and I have a contact in the operations management that will write a temporary asset tag for my scooter so it won't get kicked out of the park for doing something strange. It's the perfect test environment but we can only go once or twice a year and the two disabled friends that would benefit from it are not always available.
