Which would you choose 3 nights waterview at FQ or 3 nights AKL standard room? I think the price difference for my AAA package for 3 nights with dining would be about $125.00. I already have 2 nights booked at AKL(conceirge/savannah for sunrise safari)but I can't afford more nights at that rate plus I read on another thread(by TA) that her clients are often upgraded when they book a standard room and even if I am not I have the 2 conceirge nights to look forward to and that way I will be there 3 days earlier to make sure I get the conceirge savannah view I want,I would never pay that much money for a poolview.I would also have to make one less resort change since I am also spending 3 nights at BWI.Also has anyone changed there room types at a resort and had the dining plan for the whole stay? I got 2 different answers from 2 different CM.I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks!!!! :)

We have stayed at both resorts and really enjoy both. When we "resort hop" we usually go from the lower level accomodations to the higher. We love the AKL but have never stayed in a standard view. It would really depend on how much time you spend in the room, or enjoying the view. The other difference for us is that the moderates have double beds, while the deluxe have queen beds. For us this is a real difference. We are used to a King, so a Queen is do-able, while a double bed is a little close.

I'd choose 3 nights at the AKL Standard view. While the POFQ is one of our favourite resorts, a waterview room at a moderate isn't worth the price IMHO without a balcony to enjoy it from. For $125 I'd go with the deluxe resort. :)

Do AKL! That is a terrific price and the resort is beautiful. Even if you have to change rooms, you will be much closer and it will be easier.

AKL!! One less hotel change would be easier. Also going from a deluxe to a mod may be disapointing! :confused3

it depends on your "motivation" or what this trip was planned to be... if it's just a wdw vacation, then go w/AKL and just switch levels mid-trip... if it's a trip to check out various resorts then go w/POFQ...

i have read here and elsewhere that you cannot switch resorts or levels w/in a resort (two ressies) and keep the same package... we're staying at pop for 5 nights and AKL for two nights and could not get a dining package for both legs of our trip combined... so we could get our tickets for the entire stay, but we'd have to forego dining on the last two nights or purchase a ticket w/the 2nd leg of the trip in order to qualify for dining (it has to be a package = room, park tix, dining) and both legs would be priced separately... ergo we opted not to do the dining package...

OT: juliesue... that's my daughter's nickname as her name is Julia Susan... :)

I've stayed at both and love them both.

I think the transportation at FQ is much better, and I also think the food court at FQ is much better. BUT, the AKL has 2 fine dining restaurants and better service. BUT, the FQ has a better pool. Gee, this isn't going anywhere...lol

I'd say if you get a good price on AKL go there. There are a few slight disadvantages but it has MUCH more of a 'resort' feel. The FQ is very nice, and in fact I think it has the most sophistocated feel of the moderates. But the AKL really can't be beat for the atmosphere and dining (except for the food court).

Thanks for the great feedback, just to clarify one thing my current ressies are for 3 nights at FQ before checking into AKL conceirge for 2 nights and then BWI,I know I have heard you don't want to go from deluxe to moderate and I definetely won't do that but I am having trouble deciding between the 1st 3 nights at AKL standard or my current FQ ressie for 3 nights, also do you think if I call AKL a couple of days before my conceirge stay and tell them I really really want the savannah view they will honor my request?I just think if I am actually there 3 days earlier begging I will be more likily to get the conceirge room I want.
Thanks!!!! :)

I think it's definitely worth a try to upgrade the room, both before you go, and again at check in. Often times they have cancellations and would much rather have a standard room sit unused than a higher level. As someone else mentioned, if you do have to change rooms it's much easier to do it in the same resort than to a different one.

AKL, take in the atmosephere. It might be the closest you get to staying in Africa. :earboy2:
