FP+ with split-stay and package tickets?

Hello,

Yes, another FP+ question.:confused3 I have read so many threads on FP+ and some on split-stays, but I have not seen anyone with the same issue that we have. Our first reservation is a room only, then followed by a package (bounce back with free dining) which includes 10 day passes. While both reservations are linked in MDE, our 60 day mark (as shown in MDE) is 60 days from our package check in date. I cannot move up our package date due to the limitations on the bounceback offer and since we will be arriving in mid August, the current free dining promotion is not an option. Any ideas on how I can get the 60 day window to reflect our room only check in date would be VERY appreciated.

BTW.. I am aware of the official WDW spiel about package tickets not being available until the day of your package check-in, as well as the unofficial early ticket pickup 3 days prior practice. :)

Thanks!

Hopefully! Someone from the DIS has to have already gone through this scenario. I have called the IT department four different times and received four different answers:rotfl: Everything from "It does not matter, because you will not be able to pick up you tickets until you check into your package reservation", to "As soon as you reach 60 days from the check in date for your room only reservation, the system will automatically let you start making FP+ selections. You can just ignore the FP+ date that you currently see on MDE and start booking FP+ 60 days from your room only check in date".:confused3

One thing that I found interesting after talking to four different people in the IT department is that while the one person said that I would not be able to pick up my tickets until I checked into our package reservation, the other three people said that I would be able to activate my tickets as soon as I checked into my room only reservation (even if it is more than three days before the package check in date). One even went so far as to say that since the tickets are showing up in MDE and so are both reservation numbers, I can use them whenever I want. She pointed out that when looking at MDE, the tickets do not show as being tied specifically to either of the reservations, but that they were just pulling a "start date" from the package. Along with this, she said that all I need to do to have this date issue overridden was to visit a Guest Relations window at any of the parks to "correct the date problem" and activate the tickets. This of course corresponds to what we know as early ticket pick up here on the DIS, but seems to suggest that the 3 day unofficial window may not be written in stone.

I just cannot believe all of the confusion from Disney on this:confused3

That is an expensive option! :rotfl: Worst case scenario is that we will have to make same day selections once the tickets are activated.

I am afraid that everyone with our same split stay situation will get stuck with the worst case scenario of making FP+ reservations the day of at the park. This seems crazy when offsite guest can book them 30 days out. It is like being penalized for staying on site.

I know! Hopefully the CMs saying it will allow us to book from the room only date are correct. Surely there are people who have had to do this before. Where are those people?!?! :rotfl:

This is my exact situation and unfortunately I was not able to figure out how to do it. We have a package with our entire family May 24-June1. Four of us are arriving early, May 21, and have a room-only three nights at the Contemporary. Although both reservations show up in MDE, I have only been able to make FP+ for the package. :(

I'm planning on picking my tickets up early and extending our four tickets from 7 day to 10 day. I guess we'll just show up at park opening and see if there are any FP+ left?

While that is the worst case, you may not be stuck with that.

Let's assume your split stay RO is 4 nights before your package stay, so something like this:

ABCD123456 = 10 nights total

MDE lets you start booking FP+ 60 days before night 1.

BUT, the big question is will it only let you bpok FORWARD dates (for nights 1-6+ however many more upto the length of your passes more), or will it let you do BACKWARD dates too, which are now less than 60 days and before your package arrival date. ?????????

I do NOT know the answer to that one, and you may only be able to find out at the 60 days from 1 day.

We are doing a split stay first two nights on our dvc points and then six nights with a package (8 day hoppers) at YC. My dvc confirmation says I can make fpp reservations from 60 days out giving me 6/2 as the date to start booking. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it'll let me book then.

Where are you guys finding the date that you can start your FP selections? I don't see it on the website or the app. I must not be looking in the correct place.

It came as a magnet in the packet I received after we booked.

I found mine on MDE. You have to drill down a little to find it, but here is how I did it : Click on the FP+ selection on home page the drop down menu. You should get an error window that pops up if your start date is more than 90 days out. After this, another window comes up that has a "My plans" section with yet another FP+ area and a "Make Selections" button. When you click on this button, a message comes up saying what day that you can begin making your FP+ selections.

I hope this helps!

Wondering the same as all of you. Room only, Aug. 22-25, package Aug. 25-30. Would like to take advantage of early ticket pickup and Fastpass+ for one day of the room only part of our stay.

Thanks for the tip! This worked for me. Unfortunately, my FP+ booking date is 60 days before the package portion of my stay. Like another poster, I am wondering if once your ability to book opens up if they will let you book FP+ for dates BEFORE your package date begins.

This does seem to be the only hope for making FP+ selections in advance for those of us with a room only reservation before our package. Hopefully a fellow DIS user (in our same situation) will report back after they hit the 60 day from package check in mark.

OK, reporting back! To recap my situation: I have a 3-night room-only reservation followed by a 5-night package including room and 6-day tickets. My FP+ booking started 60 days before the room-only check-in date, but I could only get FP+ for my package dates. Everything is supposedly linked on MDE, but could NOT book FP+ for dates before the package. I will keep checking...maybe at the 30 day mark things will change. If not, will try to get whatever FP+ remains when I take advantage of early package ticket pickup.

Thanks for reporting back in. I am in the exact same situation. Unfortunately, I bet when our 30 day mark gets here (under a week away), I will still be unable to book any FP+ for the first part of our trip. Only time will tell, but I also think that it will not be until after the early ticket pickup.
