FP + What we know and what we want to know

Is Disney turning their backs on teenagers? And does that demographic matter? Have they just given that market share to Universal? My teens and all the teens I travel with love to move fast through parks and ride as any thrill rides as possible. FP made this happen for the teens. This one park three ride limit will impact them MUCH more than me.

The middle school students I teach at talk about how much fun US/IoA are and can't wait for those new attractions. New fantasyland is not appealing. Avatarland best case scenario 2017. What is the draw for that age? I am not thinking talking seagulls and customized meet and greets are going to cut it.

Interesting questions. Now that my kids are getting older, we are considering some days at Universal more than we ever have before.

I apologize if this has already been brought up. I didn't read every post. Any idea how this will work with military discounted tickets? We have a room reservation in June but there are not tickets attached to the ressie. We will purchase tickets at Shades of Green upon arrival at WDW. I really hope Disney has considered the thousands of military families that vacation at WDW!

Heck no!! They are the ones who might benefit the most from this! Name a teenager who WILLINGLY gets up early on vacation to ride the rides? Now they can sleep in and STILL have a FP for Space Mountain to avoid a 90 minute line!! :cool1:

What have they 'already' done to FPs other than police return times?

Yes. They have policed the FP Return Times at WDW.

They have not policed the FP Return Times at DLR.

Even if they do ultimately make those changes at DLR, the fact that they have
kept putting off doing so for such a long time says something about
the relaxed FP Return Time value to guests and its
inconsequentiality to park operations.
It would have been a simple matter to change the policy at both parks at the same time.

The reason I'm mentioning this is that it is a concrete change in the FP system at WDW.
Not speculation based on an unknown future policy.

Or if they know how the old FP system used to be, and how much extra work a Disney "vacation" is going to be, they may just forget Disney all together and go to Universal.

We don't mind general planning, however we really "float" along once we are at WDW. If we want to sleep in, we will. If we want to park hop, we do. We keep free days where there is no set park. We see how we feel when we wake up. ADR's aren't too bad for this, as we only make ADR's for breakfast and dinner. We have done CRT for an early breakfast and then gone over to AK because that's what we wanted to do when we woke up. In that regard, FP+ wouldn't work for us.

The problem is, this thread's entire theory of how it will work is based on suppositions like 'They're only going to let me have a FP for one e-ticket ride'. Disney hasn't stated this, at all. It's all just wild speculation of a thread that's out of control and the word of someone who won't share where his 'knowledge' comes from but is known to have not worked for Disney in many years. Still, in the greatest Internet way, he declares things to be gospel with complete confidence, so is completely believed.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with your believing in that speculation, but what we have is people declaring that the speculation is 'truth' and then other people coming to this thread and the others, seeing these statements and taking them for policy and then freaking out. That's not good, at all.

It isn't wild speculation as you put it. It is speculation based on the limits that they have been using to test the program. It is fairly logical to expect that a company would test a system that will be at least fairly close (if not exact) to the final implementation before rolling it out whole scale. Otherwise, how will they know if the system will work as they have planned it to?

Just an update that may mean nothing...

I have a DVC room-only booking on Mar 20-24. Today I was able to do my 60-day online check-in. There was no sign anywhere of MyMagic+, FastPass+ or MagicBands - not in any of the check-in steps, and not in the Online Check-in Terms and Conditions.

It did say we would receive KTTW cards.

We're staying at the Beach Club Villas.

This makes me wonder about those people who are clueless. When this goes online, we know that there will be a fastpick option, and Disney will select rides for you. But nobody has mentioned yet that Disney will be able to pick PARKS for you too.

If I enter a 6 day pass and I don't preselected park days, then Disney can suggest parks and rides for me. They could suggest restaurants too. If I have ADRs, then fastpasses could be recommended for me based on those reservations. This is another fun tool for Disney. And the beauty of this is people can anything anytime they want through the website and app. I would imagine a substantial number of people would accept the fastpicks.

That is an awesome question. I can't believe nobody has thought of it up until now.

I do get the argument about getting to sleep in and still get a FP, but once just wouldn't cut it for most teenagers. For many, it's a badge of honor to report how many times they were able to ride a certain thrill ride.

No official word on how room-only people will be able to schedule FP+. It is presumed that you will need to have tickets associated with your My Disney Experience account in advance, but again, NO OFFICIAL WORD!

Stay tuned and keep an eye on post 1 of this thread as it is constantly updated by the OP! :goodvibes

I completely agree with you. In fact, my DS16 no longer has any interest in Disney. My 11 year is on the verge of "aging out" of disney.

Our next vacation, for the first time ever, we are contemplating exclusively doing Universal.

Shades of Green is considered a "Disney Hotel" as you get most of the perks (access to EMH, package delivery) so I'd say you would be included :thumbsup2

I don't see it as control... it's marketing. Do you find it creepy or controlling when your child sees a Disney ad on TV and asks if you can take her to Disney World?
I don't see advertising as Disney trying to force anything. They are simply throwing a product out there and saying "look at how fun this - come check it out" like a zillion other advertisers do. If they are taking away what I see as advantages just to make sure that it takes more time to do less than I do see this as creepy. JMO.

I personally don't believe that that's what they're doing though.

Why does it bother you if they aren't policing FP return times at some of the DLs? Please don't say because they aren't being 'fair' to you.

Yes but they want to spend their day riding the 3 Mountains all day. If they were only allowed 1 FP to one of those and had to ride standby all the other times, it wouldn't work as well. :confused3

Actually, it's fair to believe that a company would limit tests in any number of ways. Tests are tests for a reason. It's unreasonable to expect final releases to ever closely resemble what was tested.

I don't know, those kids are the thrill seekers, they want more thrill rides. If they get one e ticket a day, I don't care what time it is - they will grumble.

Plus haven't we all agreed that limiting of FP is going to make RD even more important. Because that will be the ONLY time to ride e tickets multiple times with lower wait times. Especially now that we lost that golden hour of evening extra magic hours.

But, what does make sense if I could swing it - go in off peak times. Being a teacher that is impossible.

They have policed the return times at WDW.

They have not policed the return times at DLR.

I thought they are getting ready to change that soon though...

...and if it is likewise in advance of FP+ coming to DL, and I think it is, it would lend more credence to the idea that FP enforcement was less to do with abuse as it was to get people prepped for FP+.

I will preface this by saying I don't know all the ins and outs of military tickets. But from what I have read, I think you have to purchase those tickets on site when you arrive. My greatest concern for you would be whether you will be able to access the advance reservation system prior to arriving, since you will presumable not have purchased those tickets yet.

I really can't believe they would put their military customers at such a disadvantage though, and will surely come up with a remedy.

Maybe Disney is also trying to control this problem. Would the new system solve the "chanting groups" problem with them hogging all the FPs right at rope drop? Just a thought.

This would be a nightmare for us. If we got up that early everyday, we would be cranky by midday.
