FP + What we know and what we want to know

Well we have a short trip in March. Even though it would have added a little convenience to pre-purchase our park tix and link them to our account, thereby skipping a physical check in and possibly going straight to the park on our first day (assuming that's how the new tech will work), I think we'll just buy our two day non-hopping tix in advance somewhere and not link them so we can continue to use regular FP this time. When the wrinkles are ironed out we'll see what happens for our big trip in 2014.

Still confused about how this will all shake out. I have been on the My Disney Experience online and made my dining reservations. However, when I look at the mobile app and sign in I can't pull up my dining ressies. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Don't worry, you are not alone. I can't help you with the mobile app, I am using the iPad, but all my DVC reservations are showing up and I linked them on the web site. I was able to make dining reservations with the ipad app.

APP Upgrade:

Has more buttons. I like a lot about it.

The one button I don't much care for is the "my plans" feature. It is clunky at best.

Whoever wants to get their own notices and FP+ bonus offers or wants to get a separate FP+ would need their own account I think. My teenage children would want their own so they could ride their rides, and I want mine so I can ride mine.

Look at this from the Terms and Conditions: "You acknowledge that, by sending or accepting an invitation to become Connected Friends, you authorize your Connected Friends to plan activities for you, including making FP+ selections for you without notice."

So it looks like someone can make a reservation for me, and I can deny reservation if I log in and check it out. But, I don't have to confirm it. hmmmm.
So if I was there with DH and DS, we would all set up our own accounts. Then one of us might be notified about free fastpasses or another time but the system would somehow be aware that there was three of us?

Anyone able to get AP or tickets linked yet?

Yes, on the My Disney Experience website, it does list my annual pass with the expiration date in my profile section. So I'm guessing if it's in there, it will link up with the bracelets and FP+.

Still can't find it,,
. I have the voucher, but I guess I need to AP to link..

Guess we will not be able to link to FP+ until we get the APs at the park..

Did you try going to the passholder part of the website and registering it? You do have to register it, but I don't know if vouchers work or not.

So, the first summary post says that any MYW ticket can be connected to the magic band and therefore have access to FP+.

Does this include paper tickets?

Thanks :badpc:

Yes.
Those are MYW tickets.

(All subject to change and any time, of course, when they finally roll out the actual program.)

:welcome: to posting on the DISboards, Fan!

Yeah! Managed to add my resort reservations to the my disney experience ipad app! I guess at some point the FP+ component will appear in an update :-)

I was going to guess that the FP+ button to add ride reservations would appear once you get to 60 days out AND a ticket has been linked. But, after thinking about it, it would make more sense to get that button active for everyone as soon as possible. That way if I click that FP+ button, and I don't ave a ticket linked - I can be reminded to purchase them. "Buy your tickets today, and start planning your dream vacation right now!"

We will soon find out...

In the terms and conditions dealing with the friends account, it reads like people linked will be able to share all information together and book FP+ for each other. If you have a party of 8 all onsite together and then split up ( the mom2rtk model :) ) with half going to Epcot and the other half going MK, then I would imagine the computer would adjust and cluster those people together in the same park for special offers. A friends list could get VERY large and even include Friends of Friends. I don't even know what to think about that.

As people are awaiting the website and app to mature and add features, especially the one about linking tickets, I wonder what the implications are. Remember this bullet on the Terms and Conditions:

Once available, you may convert certain paper tickets or passes to a paperless ticket or pass in the Site/App. Once converted, your ticket or pass park admission entitlements are stored in your account and fulfilled by an RF Device. The paper ticket or pass becomes void and is no longer valid for admission. However, you may want to keep your paper ticket or pass in the event you do not receive your RF Device before your visit or if you are a passholder you should keep your paper pass for validation of other passholder benefits.

I think this means that if you want "opt out" of the FP+ system and you want to be able to use the old FP system (while it's still around), or if you are waiting to see how this all shakes out, that you should not link your tickets in any way to you MDE account. Doing so would turn them into "Virtual Tickets" for use with an RF device like the MagicBand, and it would void your paper or plastic card tickets for the purposes of obtaining paper FPs as we know them today.

Is this everyone else's interpretation, as well? I will certainly be waiting a bit longer before making any commitment of that sort.

I also wonder how Disney will assign times for FP+.

For example, what if I only plan to spend half a day in a certain park. We'll use AK for example. I might only plan to stay from opening until 1pm.

Using the normal FP system, I could easily get FPs for KS and AE in that time frame. However, if I choose to use FP+ might Disney assign me to ride KS at 10am and AE at 4pm?

This same scenario applies to those who like to take breaks in the afternoon and return in the evening. If you go the FP+ route and get assigned a time when you plan on taking a break, you pretty much are out of luck.

Yes I think you are right re the button appearing for everyone. Do we have an exact date for FP+ to come online or is 'spring' still all we have?

I sure hope so. I have zero interest in this FP+/Magic Band tool. We are planning this trip as a more go with flow trip, take it all in, do what we want to do, go to whichever park strikes our mood kind of trip, but I fear that Disney is quickly moving in the direction of almost forcing people to have to plan every second of your trip (I don't even call WDW a vacation, because it's just not anymore). Only way I can convince DH to even go is to NOT have an ADR every day, especially not an early breakfast ADR, and to not have every day planned out to a "t". This scheduling rides would push him over the edge.

I was wondering what would happen if you get FP+ allocations with staying at a Disney resort and you have an AP like we have. If I do not link my AP to the disney experience app and keep it paper can I use the FP+ allocations with our room but use the original FP with my unlinked paper AP?

:thumbsup2great job gathering and organizing the available information! Not sure im gonna like this system, but we bought DVC 2 years ago, so we stuck :confused3 with it and will make the best of it
