FP + What we know and what we want to know

Between the ADR system, EMHs, and this new Fastpass + system, a family that doesn't plan for months in advance is destined to be disappointed.....

Going to Disney is becoming a chore, which means it is definitely falling on my list of vacation choices. Plus, the idea of a tier system linked to the resort level is irritating me beyond belief - and I have stayed at hotels in each resort level.

But they'll have that pretty pink bracelet.......:yay:

That NYTimes practically quoted you! Hi, Angie,” the character might say without prompting. “I understand it’s your birthday.”

I think they read our posts before writing their article. There were other things in that story that came directly from these threads! :)

Thinking about it....3 FP's a day for all the parks would be okay for us, except in MK. That would be rough....

If you use one for the fireworks, one for a meet and greet and one for Test Track. That would be the day. I wonder if it costs a FP+ to have a QS order waiting for you?

Well, they DID call me up last night for my input.

Didn't they call you?

;)

That is a great point! What is the average FP usage numbers. Based on FP distributions throughout the day - it sure looks like a LOT of people are grabbing FP. I can't imagine 3 FP is significantly better than the average. We still don't even know if all 3 can be used for Headliners. IF EVERYBODY knows how to get a FP for TSMM, then EVERYBODY knows how to get FP for everything. I know there are the funny stories of some people who think FP costs money, but they have to be in the minority.

Yup! That would reach the same goal. But then they wouldn't be able to send out reminders: "No waiting on the Riverboat, come now and you can steer." ;)

I was being negligent on my previous post, I forgot this little nugget:

Mr. Staggs explained that research indicated that guests — particularly mothers with strollers — viewed the turnstiles as an unpleasant barrier. “Small, subtle things can make a big difference,”

I am pooh sized.....I view the turnstiles as a skinny unpleasant barrier...and strollers don't go thru the turnstiles anyway...really?! I guess he couldn't say "pooh sized" guests hated the turnstiles..not politically correct! So name the one group that doesn't even use them! Genius!!!

I think 3 is a little thin as well-unless reg FP stays to.

But I can't see using a FP+ for Illuminations. If the wind that night is in your face you cant hardly see it and would move around the lake anyway IMO.

Good catch! Now it is even a sillier comment. :)

Tried to update as much as I could keep up with. Let me know what I am missing or what is inaccurate.

Same here. Even if I'm not forced to use any of this new stuff it's still a huge turn off.

Here's a question:

When you convernt a paper ticket to RFID online in order to use FP+, can you, at the same time, add days to it? Or, do I have to wait until I get to the parks to upgrade it, which would prevent me from reserving FP+ 60 days out for the days I plan to add?

Forgive me if this has been answered but my question is, do we just pick which 3 (or whatever) rides we want on a given day, or do we have to guess at times too? Also do the shows/parades/fireworks come out of your same "bucket" as the 3 (or whatever) rides? I'm so confused lol. All I know is my next trip is in less than a month and then we won't be at WDW again for at least 2 years, so if they'll just wait to roll it out until after my trip I can gain insight from y'all for the next time! :rotfl:

The testing did have people pick specific time windows for each FP+ reservation. As far as having parades and fireworks coming out of your three FP+ reservations, it did happen that way in testing. But until the system is rolled out officially, it's hard to gauge what the rules will be.

I will add it to the list. I wonder if the website will be I tuned enough to analyze your linked ticket and then offer you an extended ticket to accommodate your entire stay. This would allow you to book your ARR (advanced ride reservations) at 60 day window. It could also be an incentive to keep you from jumping to sea world or universal for a few days.

Another issue is the redistribution of fastpasses among family members. With the current system, even though my DD3 will have a ticket, she won't be tall enough to ride certsin attractions, to the point her ticket will be unused. I'm thinking Epcot, for example.

On that situation, I'll get the fast pass anyway and use it with another memer of my touring group. Don't know how it will work with FP+.

I'm also thinking that the days of giving away unused fast passes to other Guests are over.

Finally, we are mostly off site people and can't imagine how all this stuff will work out for us.

We'll have to wait and see.

Now that at least some of the speculation about Fastpass+ has been confirmed, it really doesn't make me feel better about any of it.

I have no intention of using the new system when we go. This is only my opinion, but for me it turns the planning aspect of a Disney vacation from a pleasure into a chore. The main reasons I would not be using it are that I don't want to plan my FPs in advance, I don't want to limit myself to 3 and I don't want to limit myself to using FP in one park. I also don't want to be tied to a smartphone, computer or kiosk for the duration of my vacation.

My main concern, which I really hope will turn out to be another case of me over-reacting ;), is that the park experience for those of us who don't want to use it will be noticeably downgraded. My fear is that by attempting to tour the parks as we always have, we will miss out on FPs for popular rides as they have already been booked well in advance and that despite being happy to wait an hour plus for good viewing for parades and fireworks, we will no longer be able to do this as all the best areas will have been pre-booked.

Feel free to tell me if I'm getting carried away as I would be completely relieved to know that this is just my imagination running away :rotfl:

From Disney via nytimes: "Prodding guests to do more advance planning, combined with the tracking of guests as they roam the parks, will help Disney manage its work force more efficiently. More advance planning will also help lock visitors into Disney once they arrive in Orlando, discouraging people, for instance, from making impromptu visits to Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter."
