Will this work?

I am making my FP+ using my tickets prior to arriving at the park and then reserving rides on Magic Bands when I am at the park. I was not going to link my tickets to my Magic Bands.

There is no difference between using tickets and MagicBands.

You must have tickets and a MDE account to make advance FP+ reservations.
Once you have that set up, if you get a MB, it will ALSO automatically be linked
to your tickets and FP+ reservations.

At the parks, you can use the tickets and/or MB interchangeably.

1. Do I have to link my Magic Band to tickets or

2. can I use both for FP+ at the parks?

1. If you get a MB, it will automatically be linked
to your tickets and FP+ reservations (made in advance or day-of.)

2. Yes.

Concerning nearly everything that you can use a MagicBand to accomplish,
you can also do with a WDW ticket (including an AP.)

MagicBand = RFID ticket.

RFID ticket = MagicBand.

When you have both in your MDE account, each can be used in place
of the other, or both can be used interchangeably.

(The MB can offer a very few "other advantages" in the parks, such as triggering
a "connection" to the on-ride photos (very few rides have them) and your account, and
a few "features" in the interactive queues, and some little "extras" that pop up during some rides... that have yet to be activated.)
