FP+ Strategy for Large Party - 2 Onsite the Rest Off?

Wifey and I are staying at the Board Walk in Nov 2017, kids and grandkids off site, they're a total of 9. Of course we reserve 60 days out, the rest at 30. I'm thinking that wifey and I make our choices at 60, make them 'Friends' on MDE to see our selections and let them do the best they can to match the ones where they want to join us. I recall being able to tweak our choices right up to the last week last Oct so with the exception of 7 DMT and Frozen we should be OK, we walk on TSM and Soarin' at RD. Any thoughts from those who dealt with this would be appreciated.

We did something like this in 2015. My son's marching band marched at the MK over Easter. My older son, mom and I stayed on property and the band stayed off. My husband traveled with the band and our younger son. I made the FP+ for the three of us at 60 days and then DH made them for his group at 30 days. We were not able to get everyone at the exact time but they all did have an overlapping time that we could ride together. He even had kids join his group at last minute and we were still able to get the overlapping times for us to ride together. Good luck.

We traveled with friends who stayed onsite while we were off. I remember being told on this board that they should have been able to add us to their FP selections but we must have had something set wrong because that option never worked. What I did was try to get the same time or an overlapping time with as much overlap as possible. Just make sure they know when they make their selections that what comes up as options when they first try to get them aren't truly the only options. What I did was make sure I got the same 3 FP completely ignoring the times then once I secured the same 3 then I went back and adjusted the times as needed. We ended up getting everything timed okay, unfortunately there were several times that the other family just went ahead without us completely voiding all of the time I took to make sure we had the same attractions at the same times but that was kind of how that trip went for us. Hopefully your family will appreciate wanting to do the FP attractions together!

You can book everyone's at 60 days. As long as one person is on site on your friends list then you can make FP's at 60 days

One onsite person has to be on the "selected" list for each booked FP to open the 60-day window for the offsite people.

FPs can be altered and the offsite people will still benefit from the open window.

Thanks for the added info. I made all of the off site folks Family and Friends, no invite to them, I chose to manage the crew. As I recall, when making FP+ choices for the two of us, I'd make a choice and be asked if it was for the both of us. Since I'm managing all and all their passes will be linked to us will all of them come up when, for instance, when I make a FP+ for Splash Mtn? Will they be able to see and modify the choices as is or do I have to invite them?

When booking your FPs, you'll be able to select any Friend who has an available entitlement. You can select the group as a whole, or, pick and choose as long as one onsite person is included in the selection.

Because you Manage them on your Friends list, the only way for them to Modify on your MDE account is to give them your login info.

If they went to a FP kiosk and scanned their MB or ticket, the kiosk will show what is linked to their RFID. They can Modify at that time, even for whichever other MBs/tickets are with them at that time.
