FP+ strategy for large family

I am heading to the world in Jan with my dh and our 9 kids...I am wondering what will be the best strategy to go about getting FP+'s for 9 of us (2 are under 3 years old). Thanks for any advice

How about asking the producers of your reality show to book them for you? If you don't have a reality show, you should!

I booked for our recent trip, which was Dec. 29-Jan. 3, for all 15 of us. My secret? Book at 60 days and be flexible. Know that some of the hot tickets will be available later in the day. We were able to do all the major rides/attractions at each park, except EPCOT, since we didn't devote much time there.

As long as you book 60 days out, you should be fine. If you are having trouble getting one for your whole party, try splitting your group and then playing with the times to overlap.

My other tip, which I learned way too late into our trip, use rider switch to your advantage. When you use rider switch, only half of your group needs a FP as the other half will be given a ticket and not have to scan their band to go through the FP line when you switch. Since you have little kids, you can maximize your number of FPs by using rider switch. So, if you want BTMRR and Splash Mountain, just split it half and half and then you still have 2 attractions left to pick for everyone. Make sense? Good luck!

It can be as many as you want. So if 3 people go first and then 2 are going second, you just tell the FP attendant that you need to use rider switch and they will give you the pass you need. When the first group comes out, the second group gets to take the pass and go through the FP line without having to scan a magic band.

Actually the rider switch pass is only good for 3 people. I don't know how old your kids are, but you also need to keep in mind that a child must be 7 to ride without an adult.

That isn't true at all. Rider switch is good for 3 persons only.

Rider switch is good for 3 persons. Any three people can use it.

Children without park admission (the under 3s) do not need FP+ reservations. For attractions that they are able to ride (peter pan, pooh, etc) they may simply enter the FP+ queue with any other FP+ guest.

If you can't get a block of time for all 7 of you (since 2 kids won't need them), you might want to see about breaking it up. Do a FP+ for 4 people from 1pm-2pm and the other 3 from 130pm-230pm. Then you can all enter the queue and experience the attraction from 130-200 (because the times overlap).


A bonus thought that is unsolicited, if you are using the military salute tickets (4 day park hoppers) you have to activate them prior to proceeding to the turnstiles. You will have to visit guest services outside the turrnstiles at one of the parks or at DTD to do so. Each ticket holder will also have to be present and with ID. I recommend doing it the day you arrive or allowing for extra time in the morning to do it, since it can take 10-15 minutes for our party of 6 to get access.

Thanks for the advice...there is actually 9 of us needing FP's..since there are 11 people in our family. I will try to book 2 smaller groups of FP's then...hoping for an overlap time. We are not using the salute tickets...we wanted more days in the parks so are buying regular tickets that are sold at Shades also.
