My family of five will be in the area, and staying off site, over our Spring Break (March 31-April 6). We are planning to visit the Disney parks on Monday, 4/2 (open Epcot, transfer over to DHS for a 3:15 ADR at the Sci Fi, and will stay to close) and Thursday, 4/5 (MK, with a 2:15 ADR at The Plaza).
We know that this will be an insanely busy week, but in that we have been to Disney 20+ times, and know that we will be back, we don't feel as if we must do everything. We simply want to go and enjoy the parks as a family before our oldest son graduates from HS in May.
In the past (our last trip was in early November 2015), post-FP+ adoption, we scheduled our FP for after lunch/late afternoon, as we would arrive at a park before RD, and would knock out a lot of attractions in the first few hours, and then ride our FP selections in the busier afternoon. This strategy served us well.
However, after reading trip reports from the recent holiday season, I have become aware that there are those who feel that it is wiser to schedule the initial 3 FPs earlier in the day, so that they have the option to schedule more FPs as the day goes on.
My question is this: what is the better strategy in your opinion: our past strategy of later FP scheduling, or the earlier FPs, leaving the option for more?
I would appreciate advice, sharing of experiences, and suggested scheduling strategies!
