FP questions during extended holiday stay

My family will be staying off site, from December 20-January 10. We have 10 day passes buy plan on upgrading to AP. I believe that the most days one can choose FP's is 7, not 10 (the number of days on our tickets). Is that correct? If it is, would I be better off using FP's from Christmas through New Years? If I did this, would I be able to get FP's on arrival at the park, starting December 21 (already having a full set of FP's connected to the tickets)? Will upgrading to AP screw up the existing FP reservations? I'm not overly concerned about Jan 2-10, as it should start to be a lot less crowded. I realize that from December 24-January 2, it will be a mad house (which is why I added the 3rd week and decided to upgrade to AP's) but I plan on using rope drop and count on having 3 good FP's per day and leaving at mid day for 4-5 hours and then come back at night re-charged. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

2- You can make 10 days worth of FP+ if you currently have a 10-day ticket.

3- Nope.

If we have 10 days of FP plus through the 10 day tickets and are there for 10 additional days (by upgrading to AP's), how would you handle picking the 10 days to initially use FP plus? I thought about just using the first 10 days there (December 21-30). That would mean I could choose December 31 and January 1, two of the busiest days of the year, six days out (since I will have an AP by then and AP's only allow FP plus selection up to 7 days out, with 7 days maximum). I could skip the 21-22 and hopefully get FP on arrival at the park (and at least use RP on those days). I would think that any day that we go to MK, I would want FP plus in advance but not sure about the other parks. Any suggestions?
