FP question: Two FPs for the same ride in a row?

I thought I read somewhere here that you cannot hold two FPs at the same time for the same ride.

I tried searching for this and couldn't find what I'm looking for.

So what does this mean if I only want to get FPs for one ride, say Star Tours, that day?

Can I get a FP for Star Tours with a window from 1 to 2 PM and collect my next FP for ST at 1PM (like normal) or do I have to wait until the window closes at 2PM if its the same ride again?

All the FP says is you have to wait until a certain time...nothing that you can't get for same ride?

You can get another FP for the same ride when the window opens. So in your example, at 1pm. The times I've tried to get another FP for the same ride after a new FP is available but before that ride window has opened it will say that I already hold a valid FP for that attraction. It's been awhile, so this may have changed. I'd be willing to test if this is still the case, but it will be awhile before I'm planning to go to the parks.

One thing that I will usually do it pull an FP in the morning, ride the attraction while the line is still short, then use the FP for a quick second ride after the standby ride.

You should be able to pull another FP for any ride once the window for your existing FP has opened up:thumbsup2

I've only been to DL twice and I wasn't aware of fastpasses then, I guess? Anyway, from doing my research my plan is to go to RSR, get a FP, then get a second one right before riding it. I know my whole family (me, husband, kids ages 3.5-7.5) will love it, so I want to ride more than once! I think you are fine doing that, especially if there isn't another ride you want a FP for.

This works in theory, but there may not be fast passes left when you return....or if you get a nighttime pass, you'd have to wait two hours before getting another one which would also be nighttime. Make sure you are early!!!

That strategy is highly unlikely to work with RSR, simply because by the time of your return window, there's unlikely to be any fastpasses left.

There are two different things with fastpass return times too - if you want one for the same ride, when you can get another can be different from if you want one for a different ride.

For example, if I get a fastpass at 11am for Space Mountain and the return time is 3.10pm, I can get another fastpass after two hours - at 1pm. But I can't get another fastpass for Space Mountain at 1pm - only for a different ride. To get another fastpass for Space Mountain, I have to wait until the window opens, at 3.10pm.

This must have been what I read but couldn't remember thank you!

So Pulling two FPs in a row for the same ride is a good idea unless the FP window is longer than two hours later.

If the FP window is more than two hours later, its more productive/efficient to get a FP for a different ride than to wait until the FP window opens.

It's actually still very possible with RSR if you pull your FP at park opening. FP's are usually lasting for several hours even on a busy day. But you need to pull the 1st one right away to get a quick return time. I had no issue pulling 2 FP's for RSR and this was in June.

Exactly!

I was also there last summer, but admittedly wasn't at the front of the fastpass line! By the time I got a FP, probably 20-30 mins after park opening, return time was around 3pm. I guess if you want to be at the front of the pack and get straight in the queue you can get two fastpasses - might be a better strategy to ride at opening then get a fastpass - you've still ridden twice that way! My strategy though is usually to ride Toy Story Midway Mania first, as it doesn't have FP and usually has long queues all day after the first half hour or so, ride again if the standby queue is still under 20 minutes, then fastpass RSR. RSR has a pretty good single rider line too, so if you have kids over seven years old you can always use that option to ride multiple times.

Edited to correct myself: I've just realised I wasn't there last summer at all, it was the year before, doh!
