Hello,

I just ran into an issue this morning regarding ADR's and split stays. Apparently now the MDE knows when each resi begins and ends with regards to making ADR's. I wasn't able to go 180+ on my first reservation as "Im sure" I've done in the past. Well that's water under the bridge now..........can't do anything about it.o_O

My question is about making FP reservations for split stays..............I just recently did the 60 day FP reservations for our ENTIRE stay in June based on the day we arrive at our first reservation (we start at the YC for 3 nights and then move to POP for 3 nights).

Is this going to change as ADR resi's did? Is this happening now?

If this were to happen with FP's that would greatly curtail my desire to do split stays.

Anyone have any info? Anyone have any thoughts?

Me too...........but have you had an issue with ADR's because of the split stays?

That's how it's always been for ADRs. Dining reservations is separate from the FP system and this is discussed on the Resorts Board.

You'll have to wait for Stay#2 to book your remaining ADRs.

"Split Stay" is an Internet term. It is not recognized by Disney. In Disney's eyes you have 2 distinctly separate reservations. You can make ADR's for Length of Stay, up to 10 days. It has been this way awhile. This is what you experienced this morning.
FP+ is different. You can make FP+ for the duration of your ticket. So as long as you have any linked Reservation you are entitled to make FP+ at 60 days in advance, for the number of days you have tickets for. So if you have an on resort stay of any length and a 7 day ticket, you can make 7 days of FP+ at 60 days in advance
Does that make sense?

Thanks for the information about FP...........we're AP..........so with our room reservation we'll be ok based on what you've written :)

As for split stays.......I'm so confused.......because I've done split stays previously and never ran into this issue before. In the end it's all good. If we decide to do a split stay again I'll just plan a bit differently. So I'll just have to re-think a bit:D

Thank you so much for the info.

@dkrauss ~ when booking Split Stays, in regards to booking FPs, always book your package with tickets for Stay #1.

Ideally with Split Stays and FP booking, separately linked tickets affords you FP booking for your ticket length no matter how many onsite reservations you've linked.

You may wish to read up on your dining credits with split stays too if you have a dining plan for one/both of your reservations. I seem to remember they were 2 separate groups so you couldn't carry any credits from the first portion of your stay into the second portion.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

We are AP too. The bit of difference there is that - I believe - you can book FP+ for 30 days. An on resort reservation opens your window 60 days in advance.

Yes there is complexity with "Split Stays" and the DDP. Credits for stay 1 must be used IN FULL no later than 11:59PM of check out 1 BEFORE any credits from stay 2 can be used. So, for example, if you had snack credits from stay 1 available you could not use a TS credit.

The info on DDP and split stays is something I did research and I believe @scrappinginontario is correct with her explanation.......although my knowledge of such things is highly suspect at this time o_O.

My wife and I started doing split stays about a year ago. We enjoy the concept of staying at two resorts on one visit to WDW, from both a theming perspective and the opportunity to try most if not all WDW resorts. With regards to ADR's I believe by altering how we plan we can alleviate the timing problems we encountered today. Right now we plan park days prior to ADR day, I believe if we plan ADR's first and do park days after their selection we could be ok. What helps with this will be the fact since we've visited WDW more than 7 times in past 4 years we don't require multiple ADR's per day during our trips. Unfortunately for our upcoming November trip we're touring with family who will be making they're first trip to WDW so they want to do as much as they can.....they have the Deluxe Dining Plan (my wife and I do not).....while we advised against it...........they've chosen to do more than 1 ADR per day...........not our place to step on their trip. :-)

Because FP info in regards to Split Stays has been given and info can also be found in the Split Stay section of the FP FAQ, closing as Dining Plan info can be found in the Dining Plan subforum.
