FP+ question - re: 4th pass

If someone is our party chooses NOT to use a FP - for example - an early afternoon pass at Splash Mountain - how will this affect eligibility for a 4th pass later in the day at another park?? Should she scan her band at the turnstile or just let the pass expire??

It will naturally expire with its time slot.
But if Splash is your 3rd FP+, then you may want to scan it, as you can book your 4th FP+ as soon as all bands are scanned. (And before the time expires)

Or (if the 4th FP is in the same park as the other 3) simply CHANGE that Splash FP to the attraction that everyone else wants as their 4th FP.

She can Cancel her Splash FP and her FP#3 can be the same as the group's FP#4 in the new park.

Tiering won't affect this because you are hopping.
