Hello,
I have a room only reservation planned for mid August. I have NOT purchased tickets yet, therefore have none attached to the reservations . Will I still be able to book fast passes? Thank you for your time and help.
Stay safe, healthy and strong

Unfortunately no. Fast passes can only be made when you have a valid ticket.

Thank you. Another question, what happens if I purchase the tickets then decide to cancel the trip?

Your tickets will retain their value based on purchase date.

If you add tickets to your resort reservation (re-book as a "room and tickets" package)
then (if you need to) you will be able to cancel the whole package and not have to "keep" the tickets.

As mentioned your best bet is to book it (rebook it) as a package. Then you can cancel everything and be refunded..

If you switch to a package just make sure you are aware of the cancellation window for said package. At 30 days you lose the deposit and at some point (2 days? I can’t recall exactly) it becomes fully non-refundable.

This is true normally; however, prior to the closure, Disney was allowing package guests to cancel up to the original check-in date because of everything going on. When they re-open, it will be interesting to see if they still offer the extended cancellation policy until the dust further settles. So for the OP, I would just make sure you follow any cancellation policy changes closely so you know when to cancel by to ensure a full refund.

You can purchase tickets. As long as you don't activate them, you can use them at a later date. You'll feel great about this when they raise ticket prices!

I posted this on the Fastpass thread but no one has replied. I’m sure it’s already been addressed, but with so many pages, I’m hoping just to get quick clarification. We have a 5night/6day vacation planned. We are booking a room at animation for night 1 then renting split stay points nights 2-4 at BWV, night 5 at BLT. If book out first night as a package, not just room only and purchase our tickets that way, I can book all five days of fast passes at my 60 day mark, correct? If we are only going to the parks for 4 of the 5 days, and have a four day ticket, will it let me book fp for our last checkout day (technically day 6 of our vacation). TIA

If they're date based tickets you'd have to pay any difference in cost for the new dates. Only tickets bought for dates during the closure are extended to Dec 15, 2020.

1. Yes.
There is actually no requirement to book a resort "package" (room with tickets) in order to book advanced FP at 60 days out.
There is only the need to have (both A & B)
A. WDW resort (or DVC) rooms booked in your MDX account.
B. Tickets or APs, valid for your trip dates, in your MDX account.

2. Yes. 4-Day Ticket is valid on any 4 days within 7 days beginning on the start date.

Thanks so much! My only thought in booking package for first night is having until 30 days before to cancel without being out the $$$ for our tickets. I’d rather pay a little more for our tickets and know I can cancel or modify my package if the situation still looks a little dicey as our arrival date approaches.

My point was that whether you have a package or not does not affect your ability to make FPs at 60 days out.
If you want to book a package or not does not figure into your FP question.
It only figures into your financial choices/strategies.
