FP+ nightmare

If they can't "find" your original FP+ selections, then I could understand them being cordial but cynical about their existence. People game the system all the time.

In this case, you have two other issues in play:

1. They know there was a problem because they had to fix another portion of your MDE file. This should require them to give you the benefit of the doubt regarding your fast passes.

2. They've instructed you to wait for an email from them before you schedule replacement fast passes, further delaying your access to the system.

They owe you some service recovery. Call everyday about when you can schedule replacement fast passes, but also politely but assertively point out 1 and 2 above and tell them you expect them to "make this right".

Ask them, "My vacation has been a victim of this glitch. How are you going to make this right?"

OP: I would definitely say the above statement to them. But you should also be prepared to tell them what it is you feel will make it "right". This will be different things to different people so you should know what will make it "right" for you.

Good luck and here is a lot of pixie dust for your trip! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

IMNTBHO, this whole MM+/FP+ concoction was an unnecessary "fix" from the get-go.

:thumbsup2 It's quite common when attempting to repair something that is perfectly functional, that the result is less than desirable!

I'm thinking of getting it tattooed on my lower back.

:rotfl:

They will not accept screen shots. They claim they are too easily forged.

I don't know how easy it is to forge screen shots, but the problem is that the system is not doing what it should so the guests started using a bit of initiative to protect themselves; Disney offered no back up in case of a problem (and let's face it, they really couldn't possibly have not anticipated there would be many problems). Now Disney, still offering no back up system is telling guests that it's just too bad and anything not issued by Disney, from Disney, is not official. I find this ridiculous.

I mean it's not that complicated. Either make it work, or give guests something to use for when it doesn't work

You don't actually have to forge anything; you can print or screen capture a legitimate fastpass and then change it to something else. If they accepted these as proof that your Fastpass was lost, you could make dozens of them before your trip.

If only computers were able to store data about our FP+ selections in some way. Like, an activity log or something. Oh wait...

I really can't believe that Disney doesn't back up their MDE database VERY frequently. If they know it is so glitchy, they need to either FIX IT, as you said, or implement a backup or log system that tracks changes. Yes, it would be massive. Massive beyond our imagination, no doubt. But what's the point of a reservation system that doesn't actually KEEP reservations?

I've only used the screenshot once at a ride. The reader said I hadn't made any selections, so I showed them my screenshot. Maybe that's why:confused3 Either way, sorry if that was not correct information.

(I also use the screenshot to know where I need to be without needing to try to open the app all the time. I write them down but sometimes change them day of.)

It's not incorrect information. It's just that Disney seem to have changed their stance on this. The beauty of uncertainty in this ever evolving system called MDE

I took a screen shot of my FP+ reservations just in case I need to prove it to customer service! Thanks for the heads up, sorry that happened to you.

I did this too. And when we were in the park and made a change I took another screen shot.

Twice we changed attractions and when you went back into the app later they wouldn't be there - instead the original rides would be reflected. Each time we walked up to the FP+ return scanner and it would show a red light and they'd tell us "No - you're supposed to be at -----" and I'd pull up the screen shot on my phone and say "I changed it to this attraction two hours ago". The CM would type something into the system - the light would turn green and off we'd go.

It's amazing how one of the biggest companies in the world has an IT system that can't compare to the one of our 300 hundred person company.

Stupid question...how does one take a screen shot of their phone?? I have a LG somethingorother.

Google your model number. I found out my phone does not have a screen shot function.

Don't worry. You will get fast passes. I didn't pick them pre trip. We were there during Easter week. When we were there we booked Day 1 on the app. W For Day 2, I used concierge because the front desk manager gave me 3 more FP. Those had to be done by concierge to override. I had 6 total for one day. Concierge was able to arrange them land by land consecutively. It worked perfectly.

Is must be an apple thing. I can't do it on my droid either. Concierge can print it for you.

I can capture them on my Droid holding down the power button and the volume down button at the same time for a few seconds. Google your model...unless it's an older one, you should be able to take a screenshot.

My smart phone isn't even 2 years old. And it can't do it. Or is that supposed to be "old" by today's standards?

When I had a BlackBerry it was done via an app (free) that I had to download. I think my daughter's old Galaxy was the same - had to install an app. Just search your app store for screen shot/screen grab and see what you get.

ah thanks. That worked.

You see, you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them! :-P

Awesome! You learn something new every day. :)

And just when we learn one new thing, Disney change the rules of the game so you need to learn another tomorrow ... very educational experience, this trip planning ;)
