FP+ nightmare

Nobody should ever have to contact the IT department to go on vacation. End of story.

You've had to post that more than once this week. That's not good. :rolleyes2

The only thing worse than staying up until midnight to schedule theme park rides 60 days out........ is to stay up until midnight to schedule theme park rides 60 days out........... and have them disappear.

This is what happens when a company known for weak IT systems converts to a system heavily reliant upon IT systems.

Perhaps the MK should change their slogan to The Most Magical Place on Earth (sometimes).:)

Now you know I'm the one in charge of slogans.

That's a good suggestion though. I'll add that to my list.

It seems that there should be some type of confirmation system once you "lock-in" your FP's. Like an option to send an email confirmation to yourself with your current selections.

I know it's sort of complicated because you are supposed to be able to change things and that would change the validity of that "email confirmation" but if you decide to change them, maybe you have to re-enter your email or something so that there is a digital trail of breadcrumbs that IT can track if you change something throughout the planning process.

Whatever it is, there really ought to be an email or some type of hard copy confirmation that CM's will accept in case the online system goes haywire... at least until there is a high percentage of accuracy and no glitches.

OP, I'm sorry for your troubles. May you wind up with some amazing pixie dust to make up for this stress!

I took a screen shot of my FP+ reservations just in case I need to prove it to customer service! Thanks for the heads up, sorry that happened to you.

Except that you can change them. So having "proof" at any point in time doesn't really prove anything.

Same here!! We've had nothing but problems linking fast passes and tickets with everyone in out group. My wife used to love calling Disney, but now dreads it. Planning used to fun. Now it's pure torture!!! Hopefully someday soon it will all be smooth and seamless.

I remember reading a thread a few years ago with people confessing that they would call Disney just so they could hear the music and be told to have a magical day.

My, how times have changed. :sad2:

I take a screenshot on my phone of our FPs. I've gotten to rides and been told I don't have a FP, and when I tried to pull up the app on my phone it wouldn't load. Now I keep the screenshot as a backup.

This is what's known as a "fix."
And, the problem with "fixes" (as the rest of your post above goes on to state)
is that each new fix generates a set of OTHER unintended problems which each, in turn, requires additional "fixes."

And, so it continues until its unattractive, unwieldy, and usually unwanted conclusion.

IMNTBHO, this whole MM+/FP+ concoction was an unnecessary "fix" from the get-go.

I'm thinking of getting it tattooed on my lower back.

Well, there IS some truth to this. I do have to say though, ideally, the concept of digitizing or mobilizing the FP paper system isn't such a terrible idea. The younger generation is geared towards that type of technology and as the whole world advances technologically, it is reasonable to look ahead and think the idea of collecting paper FP's would eventually become an archaic way of doing things. The problem is in the implementation and reliability at this point. Growing pains can be expected with a system that should ultimately be viewed as progress. It is just absolutely unfortunate that the pains run this deep and come at the cost of people's hard-earned dollars and added stress... something a vacation is meant to escape from in the first place!

We are long time disney visitors but totally unfamiliar with the new fast pass plus. We made an impromptu trip this weekend and our plans changed frequently. We were able to cancel and get new fast passes for other parks less than 12 hours out. Our original plans were for Epcot friday, MK saturday and AK sunday. Ended up at MK friday night, last minute switch to AK saturday and Epcot Sunday. No problems changing parks/FP plus. Still learning. Not sure I like limit of 3 per day and not sure I like setting a schedule ahead of time. But… with all my skepticism I have to say it worked much better than I anticipated. The standby wait times on the My Disney Experience app were pretty accurate and made it easy to plan while on the move. …except after parades & events when there was a sudden shift in crowd flow. It takes a few minutes to update the wait times online so anticipate those. Waited 45 minutes for the safari with a 10 minute standby time listed but that was immediately after the parade was over. Not thrilled but once waiting we didn't want to leave the line. All was rewarded as lots of animals in the roads so safari had to stop frequently. The lion stood up and gave us some pacing action. Also a bit of drama with the white rhinos that lasted 2-3 minutes very near the vehicle so we couldn't move until the 3 resolved their differences and moved far away from the vehicle.

If they can't "find" your original FP+ selections, then I could understand them being cordial but cynical about their existence. People game the system all the time.

In this case, you have two other issues in play:

1. They know there was a problem because they had to fix another portion of your MDE file. This should require them to give you the benefit of the doubt regarding your fast passes.

2. They've instructed you to wait for an email from them before you schedule replacement fast passes, further delaying your access to the system.

They owe you some service recovery. Call everyday about when you can schedule replacement fast passes, but also politely but assertively point out 1 and 2 above and tell them you expect them to "make this right".

Ask them, "My vacation has been a victim of this glitch. How are you going to make this right?"

This Makes sense.

This is absolutely the right approach.
Sorry you have to waste time with this. But remember this..YOU are going with your two kids and you will bring love and make precious memories. Don't let stupid fast passes ruin it. You WILL BE ABLE to reshuffle and get to do everything you want I guarantee it! Maybe even better than you expected. Spin it with positive thoughts and that is what will materialize.

They will not accept screen shots. They claim they are too easily forged.
