There are so many people complaining about the new FP+ system, some who have not even used it yet. Yesterday around noon we decided it would be nice night to head to epcot. I hoped online to the disney webiste, picked test track, nemo, and figment, found a set of times that worked pretty well and we were able to do what we wanted during the afternoon until it was time to head to the park.

The first two rides, Nemo and Figment were close in time and proximity so we were able to ride them back to back. Then we wandered around looking at flowers and let the kids play on the Monsters, Inc playground. We grabbed a snack, rode the boat ride in Mexico, which is way better than It's A Small World. Time for test track and we then had the choice of staying for Illuminations of leaving.

I can see how it may not be perfect, but in its current state FP+ is awesome. We could have made our times even more spread out and fit other rides in between our fastpasses. Nobody wants to wait in lines, but if the system tried make it so nobody had to wait in a line, everyone would be waiting in line.

Glad it worked for you and the way you tour. :thumbsup2

It doesn't work for everybody.

How long was your Standby wait for Soarin'?

Possible Answer #1: 70 minutes.
But with FP-, you could have gotten a FP for both TT and Soarin'. So some of the "awesomeness" is lost.

Possible Answer #2: The line was too long. We didn't do it.

It is definitely awesome to lock in a very specific time for a headliner. But at the moment, the price for doing so is skipping a second headliner in exchange for getting line skipping privileges at rides that don't require them. Like Figment. For some people, the ability to lock in the time for the single headliner is worth the cost. For others it is not. And having actually used or not used the system is irrelevant. Anyone who understands WDW can evaluate these pro and cons by simply letting them roll around in their head.

I am glad you had a good time.

:scared1: I sure can't see getting a FP for figment and nemo as a + in any context. I have used the system, and wasting FP in Epcot will never be part of my strategy again.

Plenty of people have reported first hand accounts of experiencing problems with the system, varying from minor to major; please don't marginalize us with this dismissal that applies equally to people who favor the system.

I too am glad that you enjoyed it, I really am. I don't take joy in other people's misery.

But from my perspective that sounds like a terrible day. FPing Figment and Nemo ??? Not a good use of FPs, not that you have a choice since Epcot is tiered.

Only doing TT and not Soarin ? Also not cool for my expectations in Epcot.

Really, glad you had a good time, but that does not sound like an "awesome" experience to me. Even if you had picked different rides, Mission space instead of figment or something, still would be "Meh" to me. But I would bet we Tour differently, and have different desires/measures for/of a good trip.

Can I ask WHY you chose to get fastpasses for Figment and Nemo, two rides that you should never need fastpasses for anyway? Was it simply because it was what was suggested to you?

wait, there's FP+ for figment...the ride that has been eternal walk-on since it was changed in the late 90's???? wow

We also have enjoyed FP+, and like many pp have stated, there are some who are having a problem. I particularly enjoy sharing a positive post, and being told I must be using it wrong. Glad your trip was good, planning our next Magical stay!!!pixiedust:

I think I'd be too embarrassed to use a FP for Figment. You probably have to wait for a line to form for it to be worthwhile.

Yaaaaay FP+ is amazing:yay:. I want to have a good feeling about FP+ so I will now stop reading the disboards until my June trip! Thanks OP.

It was bad enough when people who liked FP+ were told they were wrong. Now their choice of what to do when they're in the park is wrong too? Yikes.

Using a FP for Imagination is not "wrong", but it is pointless.

FP+ is awesome because of figment and nemo FP does seem like a stretch.

It is a little like someone saying... I love the dinner buffets during peak times at Disney because they are reasonably priced.

IDK... just seems like people find too much pleasure in questioning something that made someone happy :confused3

More like saying: "I love buffets. They may cost a little more, but they re-fill your water glass as much as you want."

This is an information and strategy exchange Board. While the original sentiment may have been delivered a bit more harshly than usual, one should take away from this thread that getting a FP+ for EO, Figment, Nemo, or the Tea Cups (among others) is a sub-optimal strategy.

I hope if I was to start a thread about how going to Disney the week after labour day is awesome because there was no wait to ride Peoplemover someone would point out that there is rarely ever a wait to ride Peoplemover.

Sure I can post that September is an awesome time to go and people will agree or disagree, but saying it's awesome because I rode Peoplemover with no wait makes no sense because that's possible at most times of the year. That's why people are questioning FP+ being awesome because it allowed OP to ride Figment and Nemo back to back. There aren't many times of year you can't do that, FP+ or not.

ETA: Submitted too soon.

But with FP- you might have not been able to get either because by the time you got to the park they were all distributed or so much later in the day than you were planning on being at the park.

It all evens out. For your average park goer (I.e. the 99% who don't read the boards ) I'd guess this will ultimately be a net positive.

That sounds like a lovely afternoon. I think the good point is that they were able to get a FP for TT in the afternoon and just go over later, something they couldn't have done before.

Just a question...are you a local passholder? It kind of sounds like something a local would do versus a tourist who are usually go-go-go.

The OP was there on 3/7. This has never been a problem in the first week of March.

When we were there in February, the majority reaction from the 99%'ers who do not read boards, had barely heard of FP+ and were just then learning how the system worked, ranged from: "You've got to be kidding me", to "Are you serious?", to "The old system was so much better", to "This sucks", to "@#%&*%$". Granted, a lot of that reaction was overheard at kiosks from people who did not pre-book. But still, to say that the new system was warmly received by the 99%'ers would be a great overstatement.
