If you don't know about Otto, you really should try it. It's an automated phone line that will tell you if FPs are available for a ride, what times are currently being issued and how long the standby lines are. It's 714-520-7090. I've even called in the days leading up to my trip to find out what time FPs are being handed out for a ride at a certain time of day. (Yes, I'm that geeky about my DLR trips.)
ETA: It's especially handy if you really want RSR FP for a night time ride. You can call a few times throughout the morning to find out when you should get passes to ride it after dark.
I'm lovin' Otto. I used to use MouseWait all the time, but I'm finding that it's not updated often (due to people not inputting the wait times and so forth). Otto is really useful for wait times and FP return times, as you mentioned above. But you know what else I really like it for? Ride closures. If I'm about to make a trek all the way across the park, or hop over to the other park, I call Otto to make sure a ride is open.
