FP enforcement really sucks

Think how everyone who hates enforcement feels if Disney did what I wish they would do. Get rid of FP all together.

I'll play. Why do you wish they would get rid of FP all together?

I wasn't trying to start anything. In my opinion FP has ruined the storytelling in line. A great example is Indiana Jones and Star Tours. For Star Tours now you just jet pass the whole first room if you have a FP. Watching all the stuff going on is really cool and adds so much to the overall experience. Same with Indy. That line is maybe on elf the best Disney has ever done, now because of FP you don't even get to wait in it anymore to help tell the story. Because of FP I feel they are not theming the queues as well as they used to.

I understand what you're saying but I'm not sure I agree regarding Indy since the standby queue and FP line merge before any of the meaningful themeing takes place. If you blow by the key elements it's because the line is short past the merge, not because you have a FP. I've only rode either of these rides with a FP and appreciate the themeing on both and don't feel like I'm missing too much. Maybe a tad on Star Tours because you do blow through the first room quickly, but the remaining queue is slow and there's so much to see there I think it's more than enough. I certainly wouldn't want to see the option taken away from people who want to use them. Anyone who wants the full experience can certainly skip the FP and ride standby if they choose.

I do agree, the queues on both of these rides are great.

But you can still opt to use the regular line and enjoy the que. I'm not sure that would be a fair solution to those who are more interested in experiencing the actual ride instead of the line.

As far as the lines not being done as nicely now that FPs are in use, I think the Radiator Springs line was pretty well done.

I remember the lines before they had FP. For Indy they used to give you a decoder card to see what they had written on the walls. With FP you no longer get to decode the walls because they put the merge point at the only logical stop. I mean have you stopped and looked at the obelisk in the Indy line. It basically tells you what you are in for before you are anywhere near the start of the ride. The great storytelling of that line is now gone because of FP. Also another line that tells a great Story is Roger Rabbit. If you use FP you barely go in it. I know I can wait in line and to be honest I normally do cause when I go FP return times are longer wait than actually waiting in the Stand By lines.

They're enforcing Fast Pass return times now? :confused3 Oh Man! Darn! :(

OK sorry to sound like I am out of it BUT I must be........can someone explain what's up with the FP's?

I actually was at DCA last week and got FP's that said 4:15pm -5:15pm! We went back at 5pm so no biggie! (This was Soarin')

I will say there was a sign hanging on all the 'Soarin' FP machines about enforcing times but I did not read all the fine print and knew we would be back within the time frame on the FP's!

In the past if the FP said 4:15pm - 5:15pm, I knew we could go back any time we wanted AFTER 4:15pm. Does it now mean that you must be back to the ride WITHIN the FP time frame?

THANKS!

Yes, you must be back within the window now.

The best way to make another's guest's day is to give them a fast pass you don't need. We have done this a couple of times and each time it reminded me of WDW's A Year of a Million Dreams, where they gave fast passes and other mementos out (we got Mickey ears).

So though I don't feel that strongly about hoarding fast passes, I think if you want to see delight in a stranger's face, offer them a pass you end up not using. Talk about spreading pixie dust!

The thing is, Disney knows with great certainty how many FPs will be used, and they account for it at the dispensers. It is very easy to tell -- count how many FPs are distributed, count how many are used, soon you'll have an average for how many are used. I'm sure they break it down more, by time of year and day of week, probably even time of day.

Disney can fine tune the machines to keep the FP wait times at a desired limit, and the people who pull FPs but do not use them are part of Disney's calculations. If one day every person used every FP they pulled, the lines would be in chaos.

OK so the smart comments are great. Seems like I hit a nerve. No I'm not the FP police just a DL guest like everybody else. There was a time when I really needed FP's for Splash. My dear son was with us on his last trip to DL. Instead of going and getting them first thing like I should have I waited until we had ridden some other rides he wanted to do.. By the time we got to the FP lines they were gone. GRanted I could have planned better. Since this was only a one day trip in 2003 we were time disadvantaged. We decided to get in line during Fantasmic and there was like a 60 minute wait we were almost to the ride when F got over hundreds of FP people jumped in the line making our wait like another hour. During this time my son had a breathing episode due to his illness and we had to leave the park and go to the room for his treatment.
I have edited this post to remove some personal information I wish I wouldn't have talked about. Sorry.

I wish you had known about the special passes they give sick or disabled people. I don't know the right name for it but it can be used for the whole group the person is with. My best friend has a heart defect and at 40 got a pacemaker put in. She easily gets edema in her legs so when I took her family to WDW (we are DVC members) she went up and got a pass that allowed us to 'skip' the lines. There were definitely rides she could not go on and we did not use the pass then but it helped for the rides she could get on. With your situation, it sounds like he was a perfect candidate for that pass.

Regardless of whether or not we agree on this one, I'm so very sorry. It's no wonder this is an issue that upsets you.

Again, I'm so sorry <deleted> :(

K3...

I believe that you are referring to the infamous GAC.

My reference to the napkins was tongue in cheeck. Just in case that was not clear.
What is not, is the fact that many people really do need to get over themselves.
The world is what you make of it, by the way.

See and this would not be a issue if FP just went away.

I will sign your petition, I never really use them anyhow. Lol :-)

:faint:

I like FPs, therefore do not wish for them to go away.
So stop saying that, because you might give the right people the wrong ideas.

;)

No.... really.

If they are enforcing it now and continue to do that when we are down there this year, then I applaud it.

The biggest gripe I had and told Disney a few times on their survey's was waiting in line for let's say 30 minutes and then all these people who missed their FP time because of one reason or another come up with the tickets and they let them in making people wait another 30 minutes or more. When I have used FP's at DL we always arrived during the time or never got the FP. I think one time we got them and something happened out of our control and weren't going to use the FP so we gave them to someone that was talking about the ride we were around and told them we couldn't use them so have fun and in return have had that happen to us also where someone gave us their FP because they couldn't make the time.

To me if you have FP and the listed time is there to return but they don't enforce than why have FP at all? That would be my question.
