I am wondering how this pans out as well, will RD no longer be the advantage it is ?

While people might still "prefer" the afternoon slots, what happens when those fill up, and FP+ PUSHES people, earlier and earlier in the day.

Of course, we don't know if those people will show up for early FPs, I imagine there will still be SOME advantage, but, its possible that much of the RD advantage is gone ... possible.

Gutted... as we do rope drop. .. as we stay off site so can't do emh etc. Im almost wishing we could give our disney tickets back and have our full 14 days at ioa and universal.

everyone ? Or every "room" ? I don't see everyone in our 19 people party having a smart phone/computer or even really knowing how to use them. ( My mom has difficulty with a mouse, for example, and my nieces are 5 and 6 ). I would have thought my MDE could have my whole group so I can book fastpasses for everyone ( for a few attractions ) and dining reservations. Although, I'm probably just going to phone in the latter considering the group size.

I guess I'll see how it all works once it goes live... Sorry for chomping at the bit here. It's not even that I'm in the "for it" court for FP+, but since it's a given, I want to get on that and know everything about how it works.

I think your best move is to simply stay in the resort room with your computer and smart phone while everybody else goes to the parks. That way, when things arise they can just call you and have you fix the problems. You are the leader for a reason.

Problem is if you miss your FP+ time slot then you probably will never get on that ride for the rest of your trip.

The rope drop advantage will always be there, especially Magic, which is usually easy to ride anything till noon.

Even people who end up getting early FP+ times won't always be able to get to the parks on time. A lot of folks don't want to get the parks early. It's a vacation, they want to sleep, go at a relaxed pace, etc.

Not everyone is a commando like those of us here on the Dis.

Many folks are already getting bonus FP+ 4, so just saying there's a chance-and certainly trying to sell "hopping" could come into play.

Disney will probably tout this state of the art room as one of the benefits of MM+. "Avoid the crowds! And the heat! And the MAGIC! Experience Disney in a completely virtual enviroment! It's Disney meets The Matrix!"

Disney said you could only reserve 3 and all in one park. Up until you actually used the first one you could change the 3 to another park. BUT, this does not peclude Disney from handing out additional FPs on the same day, and at other parks. By no means stated anywhere, but not forbidden.

I think the one park rule makes perfect sense. Most people, especially first timers would not understand the logistics and time involved getting from ride A in MK to ride B in AK. There would be a lot of frustrated and upset people if they allowed this. But, if they allow additional FP's in any park then you will have the opportunity to book at that time and if available.

A lot of the differing views on this depend upon certain assumptions. Some feel availability will be very limited and therefore reservations will need to be made 60 days out and no other FP's will be available.

I think FP's won't sell out, there will generally be plenty, people will not reserve 60 days out, there will be lots of swapping right up to and through day of, huge inefficiencies in the current system and many unused FPs will be recovered and reissued, many will not book or will book characters, fireworks, and parades in droves, and it will actually work out fine while we learn a new set of tricks to maximize its effectiveness.

Someone testing FP+ for today (July 19) has reported that they were unable to get additional FP+s after using the 3 they pre-booked. But the were able to use FP- during their test.
