Fp+ choices

In 6 days we can start reserving FP+. We have meals planned. I have no idea where to start. We always do rope drop, so I know planning for the second half of the day is smartest, but unless we have a meal planned somewhere we just wing it. This is overwhelming.

I will do that in just a little
While when I can look at a real computer screen instead of my phone. Thank yiu

I would HIGHLY recommend that you continue to do rope drop and hit the attractions you want to see hard and fast and take advantage of EMH mornings. This is particularly critical at the MK. If you do midday breaks, then plan your FP for your return to the parks in afternoon. If you like to stay until park close, if it is not an EMH pm park, crowd levels improve during the last two hours, so I would not use FP+ then.

FP+ has definitely changed things. I've been there during December (transition) and last month. Standby lines are much, much longer than what you've seen in the past--even as recently as December, when there were still traditional FP. In February (NOT holiday weekend) standby for HM was 60 min, IASSW was 35 min, BTMRR was 70 min, etc.

If you want to ride TSM or Soarin, BE SURE to get FP+.

Again, rope drop is your still best friend!

We decided on MK FP+, still working on HS and Epcot. My kids are older, so no characters. No one in my family is huge on parades and we have one dessert party planned and booked, so we only have to decide on attractions.
One more question though.... If Fantasmic! a FP+. I can't remember. And if it is, is there a certain area for the seating for it? Thanks

Ok. Sorry, i see that F! Is a tier 1 choice. Now to decide if we would want that over RnR it TSMM

There is a FP for Fantasmic, but there isn't a reserved seating area for it, so it's not a good use of a FP. Check the green link in mesaboy's signature.

There is no way I would choose a F! FP+ over TSM. As mentioned above there is no special seating so it is not worth it. For TSM you are looking at long lines for most if the day, that is a better use for the FP, imo.

Since you are rope droppers, I would get the FP+ later in the day/ afternoon. You can always change them, if new times available. Right now, all 3 FP+ must be in same park. So you do standby in the morning, then decide to change parks, you can have the 3 FP+ in another park for the afternoon/evening.

For DS, I did TSM standby at rope drop, then had a FP+ for later in the day. Star Wars, and RnR were walk ons in the morning. This was early Dec.

I would also do EMH mornings May/June since it can be busy.

Have a great time!

OP, I agree it's overwhelming. I've always been a big planner, but this year has been more difficult than any other. Mesaboy2's thread was a life saver. I've scheduled most of our FP+ for late morning to early evening just depending upon ADRs, what attractions we want, and what breaks we have planned.

when is there time for breakfast??

A few options:

1) Eat in your resort room as you are getting ready. We either eat granola bars that we pack or pick up some pastries the night before to have in the morning.

2) Get up early enough that you can head to the QS location at your resort for breakfast and still make it to the bus stops by no later than 8:00 for a 9:00 park open.

3) Schedule pre-park open ADRs at the 8:05 time slot (only works for 9:00 park openings).

4) Skip breakfast. (Not recommended. I have done it for myself, but I have to make sure DD gets food in the morning or it will be a bad day. What usually happens for me is I'll grab a granola bar or pastry and stick it in my backpack with intentions of eating it when we get to the park. Then I forget until around 11:00 when I realize I'm starving. At that point, we're so close to eating lunch that I'll just skip my breakfast.)

We also usually schedule one late breakfast ADR for a character meal. It's always on the second day we've spent in that particular park. I'll book an ADR for the last breakfast slot available (10:30 or 11:00 depending on the restaurant) so we will hit rope drop, get a few key rides in, then stop for a big breakfast and just skip lunch.

Follow Mesaboy's advice and don't choose Fant!

For Fant: Fp+ sits on the left side of the amphitheater while standby gets the right side; Dining package is seated in the center. If you arrive at least 45 minutes before showtime, seats are available in standby.

I would Fp+ TSMM and head to RnR at rope drop.

I chose TSMM for all HS times as first tier. No way would we choose F! When there is open seating. We like to sit in the front center at it, so we would rather sit in the stadium and wait.
We may need to tweak a few times/ attractions. We picked all 4 of us for all the attraction, although my youngest and myself do not was ToT, so I may change the two of us off of those, or maybe not. I'm most disappointed in Epcot. Maelstrom wasn't a voice in either tier. I was hoping it would be a tier 2 choice, but it wasn't there at all. At MK out choices were the same almost each time.

Any news on when 7DMT will be added?

And, thanks for all the advise. I hate having to choose now, I'm ok with planning meals, but we are spur of the moment people and really liked the old FP the way it was.

Just back from our trip, and I would definitely choose TSM as a FP+ option. The line was 120-160 minutes when we passed it last Monday. We choose FP+ and walked right in and was on the ride in about 5 minutes. We have small kids and could never have waited 160 minutes to get on the ride. Also if you like the Safari at AK, definitely choose FP+ for that. The line was insane for that also. And again, we had FP+ and got right on it.

Last week might have been an exception, but every ride in MK had a 70 minute or more wait time for stand-by. Even It's a Small World. So I would just choose your three favorite things from each park, and make sure you have FP+ for them. :)
