Hi everyone,

I am taking my first trip to disney in over 10 years in May.

When I was younger, they didn't have FP+ or its earlier forms. As I've been reading these threads, I'm starting to worry about how bad things are.

Does everything feel scheduled right down to the minute as it appears it might? Are the FP+s really as messed up as people say? Should I just stop worrying? Is there any way to avoid some of its problems?

Ps- our trip is me, my husband and my parents. No little ones. Thanks!

Depends who you ask.

Some of us will say yes, it feels much more scheduled than it was before. Others will say no, having the FP+ scheduled before you walk in the park is freeing and they feel less scheduled. Since your past visits are ones without FP at all, you likely will feel more scheduled as you had no times to stick to, but on the flip side you have no FP system to compare it to and may find you really like it despite the scheduling issues.

FP+s have worked perfectly for many people, but others have encountered issues. The issues seem to be decreasing as the rollout goes on, so I wouldn't stress about those too much. If they do happen to you, there's nothing you could have done to prevent them anyways. Screen shot your FP+ choices and talk to a CM.

Thanks for the reply! The talking to a CM about them thing is what stresses me out a little. I don't want to be squabbling over reservations when I'm only there for such a short time. Thanks again.

You likely won't have to. Don't worry about it, really :). Just have your back ups just incase (the screen shots) and don't give it another thought until the time comes, if it even does.

Its the first time for all of us with the new system!
I say go with the idea that you have 3 rides a day already taken care of.
Go with the flow, and have a blast..its still all about the experience if you let it be...
Im a former FP hoarder and would get 8 or 9 a day under the old system. But I'm looking at this trip in 17 days as just a good vacation. What happens is going to happen, and their isn't Jack you can do about any of it really , except have your backups, and go with he flow.
Chill and enjoy it.

I agree with this poster.
When I first started reading about the new FP+ I was getting worried. After thinking about it I realized we seldom did more than 3 fp in a park anyway. My stress level has decreased. Now my excitement is rising. :yay:

Possibly one of the best recommendations anyone has shared. Well said. :thumbsup2

Hello fellow Flyer!

No, the system is so flexible (especially if you are staying onsite and can switch FP at will on your phone), that I didn't feel overly scheduled in January when we were there. We didn't have any issues with FP+, only that sometimes those pesky phantom FP+ would show up, but we knew which ones were the correct ones, and the bands worked like a charm.

We are rope droppers, ride rides until lunch, then either head back to the hotel and ride rides in the evening (with scheduled FP+) at the same park or a different park. Worked like a charm!

Dinner ADRs are what get me feeling overwhelmed...we keep those to a minimum : )

You did a great job scheduling yourself for a relatively slow time, you will most likely be able to ride Mine Train and have outstanding weather. Rejoice!

Oh...and sign up for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom (at MK). It is fun for kids and adults...and if nothing else, you get some great, free souveneirs (no cost to play). Many adults really get into the card collecting/trading.

Thanks letsgoreds! You think the mine ride will be open? I know very little about it!

Also, go flyers.

Your trip will be what you make it. :)

Don't stress - get your FP+ for your must do's then relax - you know you have them without having to stand in a 1-2 hour line. That is not a good thing - that is a GREAT thing. Take the rest as it comes.

If there is a glitch - crap happens. It can be frustrating but it is only a glitch your entire trip is not dependent on those fast passes (I hope).

You will be at Disney.. the attractions are amazing - but so is just slowing down and soaking it all in. Make sure you stop and smell the roses. Literally and figuratively.
