First, let me apologize for yet ANOTHER thread on this topic.
So I received some official literature today in the mail that is a bit disenchanting. It looks like the rules for FP+ and AP are not good on the surface. We have 9 days planned in May and we had already made FP+ for at 60 days out under the previous rules where AP could still get 60 days like resort guests. We are also doing a split stay 3 days on site and the rest off property. We've gone from being able to get off peak GW room at CR for $325 to over $600 per night so they have priced us out of reality for extended stays onsite.
I noted that the MDE shows that after 7 days we were locked down from making any other FP+ so this goes a long way to explain this phenomenon.
The info I received today brings the bad news that if you have an AP you are limited to the greater of 7 days or the length of on property stays. This means that if you have a 9 day trip planned and you aren't staying on property for 8 nights we will really only be able to make FP+ selections 7 days out for the last few days. So at the end of day 1 we can make FP+ selections for Day 8. We will likely have to play a little switcharoo once the SDMT FP+ comes online.
Thankfully we always go in Sept or early May where we came back with plenty of unused FP- due to frequent walkon SB queues but it is still a little disappointing that a non AP holder with an 8 day ticket has better access than an AP holder. It just seems a bit short sighted. I get the reason why they have to find a line in the sand to prevent AP holders from reserving blocks of "just in case" days but it is still kind of a bummer. I think they should have at least bumped that to the length of the 10 day tickets.
As a wise man frequently says "that sounds like a rich person problem" so we should probably not complain too much.
I am trying to post a link to the image of the flyer but not at the magic 10 posts so try this: w w w.dropbox.com/s/s5q33gwjmfhp05s/IMAG0812.jpg
