We are going to DW this coming June but have not been since 2010 so obviously everything has changed since we were last there. We are NOT however staying onsite so my question is I know we can't start booking our FP's till 30 days out but do you need to go in 30 from each day? In other words if our trip starts on June 3rd can I book them all on that day or do I have to go in for the 4th, 5th etc? I know I am going to have to do that with the dinning since we are not onsite so wasn't sure how that worked with the FP.

Also I did one of the photo pass CD's 6 years ago but does memory maker work the same way? I am not getting a magic band but would I need to to use it to scan for pics or can I use the plastic ticket? Also is it like the old days in that when I get home I can go on the PP sight and add borders and such and then they send you a CD with your pics on it?

TIA for any and all info!! :)

Yes, thirty days from each day. You may find the green link in my signature helpful.

MemoryMaker works very much like the old PhotoPass. you don't need a Magic Band, although you may find it much more convenient. You can add borders and digital stickers. You can download all your photos immediately (or whenever you want, within 45 days). I think you can still order a CD, but you might have to pay extra for that.

So do you download them to your computer then? So I am guessing when I get home I would go on the photo pass or memory maker or whtever site and I can view the photos and add borders to whichever ones I want and then I download the ones I want is that right?

Yes, you download them directly to your computer. There is a button to "download all", so you do not have to go one by one. They no longer mail you a CD-- I think you can pay and additional $30 or so to get a CD, but you are much better off just burning your own CD from the computer if you still want one. The editing is similar to what you did in the past. There are still borders, signatures, etc., but the website/software is a little different as to how to do those. You will figure that out pretty easily. One thing is that if it is not showing you many borders or signatures/stickers, it is probably because it is set on a specific category- just click on borders or stickers and you can go to all, or change the category.

Yep - you can download them one by one or all of them as large zip files. It's super easy and very intuitive.

Oh-- Also, you can download them as many times as you want in your 45 day period and to as many devices as you want. The new annoying thing that they have done is that they have put a watermark over them. It will be there even though you have bought memory maker. The way to get rid of it, is to hit "download all" and download them once. Then you can go back to the website and do all your edits, crops, borders, stickers and sizes and then download them a final time. I'm in the process of that from our October trip. I had to download the set to get rid of the watermark. Since then I have made some edits, downloaded some to a different computer, and down loaded a couple of edited ones again, just to use for Halloween. I'm finishing up final edits this week, and then I will download the whole thing again.

And in the old days, you had 30 days to input all your codes etc., and then 30 days from the day you did that to edit. Now, you just have a flat 45 days from the time the photos were taken. (They expire day by day). I used to wait until we got back and I had time to edit to put the codes in. Now, there is no point in that, so feel free to look at the photos during your trip. The MDE app has an area where you can pull them up and keep an eye on them. Most times they show up that very day, but some can take a day or two. It worked well for us because DD was lucky enough that the Stepmother and Stepsisters took her with them one morning to play with the sword in the stone and then ride the carousel. A photopass photographer was with them shooting the whole time. When only 1 or 2 of his photos had shown up by the next day and the rest were missing we went to the photopass store at MK, and they were able to track the missing photos and add them to our account. I would have been very sad if we had lost those photos.

Correct.

And I had to order a CD last year, because my old laptop computer, and having to use public wifi, (I don't have an Internet connection, I rely on my iPad and iPhone not my computer everyday) was not allowing me to download all my pix. The CD was an extra $29.99, but it also came with a CD with about 300-400 stock photos on it. After I went to download my photos, it also had an option to purchase the CD. I have memory maker again for this trip. Still have no wifi, and I have not replaced my laptop yet.... Not sure what I will do this year. Since my trip is next week, I should really give that some thought.

Do you have a friend or family nearby with a faster computer who could help you? You could still use your iPad for the slow process of editing all the photos, but just ask a friend to use their computer for the download? Save you $30 and get them quicker. . . You could even offer to take them to dinner - then you're not saving any money, but you did get pics AND dinner with a friend ;)

Of course those stock photos may be worth the extra to me. My last MM was last fall and I either didn't know how to access them, or stock photos weren't included. I'd really love to have those too.

No, not really. :( I live out in the sticks. My friends are out here too, and have slow internet. :crazy2: Closest store is about 17 miles away, or I often have hospital appointments, which is about 24 miles away, and I always use their wifi to update apps when I go. I found it extremely difficult to put the Disney borders on and edit with my iPad using the Disney Website. Also, one of the things I noticed, was that after I managed to get a few of the borders on, almost every one of those photos I had printed, were blurry. It really reduced the quality of the photos, dramatically. I don't know what the heck that was about, or if it would have happened on a regular computer. I am glad I saved a copy that didn't have the border on it. Besides, I do scrapbook pages and do my own "photoshop", artwork and editing using a variety of excellent apps, so I don't necessarily need the borders. I did find an app that is supposed to enable me to download zip files on my iPad, so I might try that. I can have lunch at the cafeteria at the hospital after one of my appts. Just download the raw photos and edit, and do my scrapbook pages from my iPad. I made about 6 shutterfly books last year, and they came out great. One for each park, one for MNSSHP, and one for my friend that I travel with.

Thanks so much everyone. And I don't really need the CD I just thought that was how it worked. I am totally fine with downloading it. We are going to be on our trip for 2 weeks so hopefully I will have plenty of time once we get home to get everything edited and downloaded. My question is if I go on my phone and download them through MDE does that go on my phone memory or onto like a cloud through the MDE that I can access on my pc when I get home? The reason I ask is I don't want to use up all my phone memory. Thanks again for all the help and I think we are def going to do it. My kids are in HS and we aren't doing any character meals unless you count BOG which I don't even know if we will get into LOL. But I still love the idea of being able to actually be IN my photos. Plus I don't really want to carry my big heavy DSLR around. I think I am going to use PP for all the pics of "us" and my phone to take pics of random stuff. Thanks again for all the help!! :)

When you view them on MDE, that does not count as "downloading" and is just like viewing something on a web browser. When you choose to download, you can pick whether they'll go onto your computer memory, into cloud storage, wherever you want (just like clicking "save as" on a document and selecting the save location) I doubt you'd want to put it in phone memory, as you'll hopefully get lots of pictures and those files are quite large.

If you DOWNLOAD them on your phone (not just view them) then they will be saved to your phone. If you synch with a cloud service, the photos would be available there via your PC. We usually view our photos on our phones when we are in line or whatever and download one to make the watermark go away then save the rest till we get home.

We use MemoryMaker and my iPhone for all our photos at Disney. We are very satisfied with that!

You definitely do not need a Magic Band but depending on what you are looking for you might decide you want one. There are a couple of rides that have videos (7DMT & TOT) that are pretty cute and I don't believe 7DMT has a place to view photos (so no place to tap your ticket in order for your photo to go into your photo account). Just walking into those rides with a MB makes the videos/pic show up in your account, this doesn't happen with the plastic card. We were off site and decided to get bands. I am glad we did because I love the 7DMT videos (we went once during the day and once at night).

ETA: Hopefully this is one of our videos....

Awesome thanks BC and KJ. I think I may do that. Just buy a magic band for myself as it will be easier. Love the video!! :)
