FP+ and Hopping (need guinea pigs!)

Ok, so I posted this on another thread, but thought it was worth its own. I read on a FB post that an AP holder said they used FP+ at AK and then hopped to MK and got 3 more FP+. The caveat is that the AP holder said he did this yesterday, and I thought the FP+ test started today.

BUT in the event this actually happened, I thought it would be great to have folks try this, especially resort guests. My hunch is that resort guests are able to pre-book FP+ for one park, but that they can go to any park and do day-of FP+. I want to see if my hunch is accurate, though.

I could see how this would actually encourage park-hopping, and how it could result in further guest distribution among parks, though, reducing SB lines in each park, except for inevitable fluctuations.

You can still use your AP for legacy FP at Epcot. That is probably what they did. Can add FP+ at a second park. Tried it in December

No, they specifically said they used FP+ at Animal Kingdom in the morning, then hopped to MK and used additional FP+ there that they chose at the park. There have been widespread reports of IT folks saying that the system, when fully rolled out, would support park-hopping, and allowing day-of reservations at each park (in addition to the three reserved by on-site guests) is a huge wrinkle if it's true.

I'd be happy to check later this month if you don't find anyone before then, although I'm sure you'll get some live reports before then

I'll be there January 31- Feb 4

If the AP holder had previously been "activated" with a resort stay, they can pre-book FP+ without a resort stay from then on.

I wonder if the AP holder pre-booked MK FP+ (it is unclear if pre-booking was involved), went to AK in the morning, and got to choose FP+ there as if they were a "day guest". If so, it's a glitch in the system not recognizing that they are the same person.

Looking forward to hearing reports back on this.

AK goes totally FP+ first, then MK goes totally FP+. If they were going to introduce the ability to draw FP+ at multiple parks on the same day for hoppers, the opportunity to enable that feature would certainly be as soon as more than one park is totally FP+.

That would be awesome.

Right. Eternally optimistic. Please note that the last two parks to morph are the tiered parks. Why????? I prefer to think it's because hopping will be enabled.

I was there between Christmas and New Years, also an AP holder and resort guest. I tried to select more FP+ at a different park, just to see what would happen. For me, it said all our selections were done for the day. I can't recall the actual message, but the system clearly knew we had gone through our 3 FP+ for the day.

Melanie, I know that was true before, but I'm hoping it was only true while FP- was still enabled. So the real test will be whether resort guests can hop from AK to MK or vice versa and use their pre-booked FP and get more at the other park.

I'm your perfect guinea pig.

I have FP+ booked today for the Studios. And I'm planning on hopping to MK later on, for the second day of Life With No FastPass.

And just as a bonus, I'm also scheduled today for Lunch With an Imagineer, which I'm sure will include some discussion of the progress and future of MyMagic+.

There is no flippin way you will be able to hop and get FP+ at both parks, unless you still only count to 3.

Do you really think they would allow uberusers to be able to get up to 12 FP+ reserved for a day? That would a massive INCREASE in ride availability. And that is absolutely not why FP+ was invented.

My guess is the paper FP+ forms aren't being totally checked against existing FP+ at this point, so if you know this, you can do 2 parks in a day, maybe. I will be shocked if this continues very long.

I'm really looking forward to updates on this! The system now completely limits park hopping so I can't imagine it staying that way.

DH and I just decided we'd renew our APs this year and if FP+ doesn't change and allow more selections and easier park hopping we'll take a year off.

I can see a few possibilities where this _might_ work:

1) Guest (AP Holder?) able to make FP+ reservations in advance, but goes to day-availability park first, goes to kiosk, and makes day-of reservations somehow not tied to profile

1.5) (more specific) Same as above, but AP Holder who has had a resort stay already but not currently staying in a resort, who can make FP+ reservations in advance.

2) Guest who does not make ANY FP+ reservations in advance, but goes to day-availability park first, makes/uses 3 FP+, then another day-availability park, and tries the same thing.

2.5) Same as above, but after visiting the first park (and guest is eligible) then goes online and attempts to reserve 3 more FP+ at second park.

These are just edge cases that I can come up with right now.

Interesting...I wonder how tiering would enter in to park hopping. Wouldn't tiering have to spread across the parks? I mean, if I get two headliners at MK, and then can turn around and get Soarin', doesn't that present the same availability issue for Soarin'? Won't it actually make it worse? Right now, I have to choose between Soarin' and Test Track. But I wouldn't have to choose between Soarin' and anything at a different park.

Regardless of using MDE, I am assuming that you need to scan your ticket before making selections at the FP kiosk. So they would track by your ticket number and if you tried to make more at another park, it would come up as already having used your FP+ allotment for the day?

Maybe, unless tiering exists to ensure sufficient day-of FP+ availability. We've already been told that Disney is holding back FP+ times for the day-of and releasing them 5 min. after park opening.

That is in theory how it _should_ work. But also remember that the old Fastpass system did not communicate between parks...

These are just guesses based on a single report that lacks details...
