Hmmmm, do I smell a conspiracy???

Bill Amend (Creator of Foxtrot) is a big Mac/Apple user and supporter. In this series of comic strips is he attempting to help pave the way for Steve Jobs and Pixar to take over the House of Mouse??? Will Disney animation go in a whole new direction following Bill's lead??? Will future Disney stories be limited to 4 panels??? Will Mickey have to share equal billing with Slug-man??? Wake-up and smell the Main Street Bakery people!!!

;)

Guess what ??? Everyday now when people read his cartoon they read the word "DISNEY". They don't think of Pixar or Eisner or Car 1,2,3. They think DISNEY. I hope he runs this theme for a long time. It's free advertisement.

I think they think "wow even the comics are getting down on Disney."

I don't think they're "getting down on Disney." I think they're slamming Eisner a bit, but otherwise they're just taking something that's been in the news and using it as inspiration for a series of comics. It's not like these are editorial cartoons or anything.

**"I think they think "wow even the comics are getting down on Disney." "**

I think people are laughing with Disney, not at Disney, when they read these cartoons.

Do you think the wisecracks the "Simpsons" make have a negative affect.... or do they pique peoples interest in it ?

I doubt Disney is Laughing and I think people hear the Simpsons jokes and say.
"yeah, that's true, Epcot is old and busted and DCA is a hole not worthy to be spit in" Then they commence to complaining about how the Simpsons have sucked for the past few years.

Ok what i meant to say was i believe other people believe what i believe which is that wow holy crap even the comic strips are taking shots at disney management and that anyone can run the company.

Oh come on .... it's a cartoon strip, it's not the OpEd page. The writers aren't making personal editorial comments on the parks ... they're responding to rumors and news and the element of society that is obsessed with Disney. Good lord ... it's "Foxtrot," not "Doonsbury." I doubt that anyone is taking it for more than it is ... a comic strip commenting on pop culture.

No offence to YoHo either. His was the shortest and first name I came to :)

I'm honored, but if I had paid, It would not of said Dis, it would have said me specifically. I don't trust the rest of you. Too much pixie dust.:teeth:

And WDSearcher, just because it is not an Op-Ed piece or Doonesbury doesn't mean the author isn't expressing an opinion. And even if he isn't saying anything more then what's on the surface, the people reading it will add it to the mental box of Disney stuff in their head and color their opinions of it and of Disney accordingly.

Disney has put itself in a position to be mocked for negative reasons. That is not something I would be happy about if I were them.

Disney's been "mocked" since the beginning. There are "Small World" jokes that go back to the early 60s. 1960s hippie culture thrived on jokes about family-oriented, clean-cut places like Disneyland. Old Looney Tunes cartoons make fun of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck on a regular basis. And remember the Oscar telecast when Rob Lowe sang and danced with Snow White? I will agree that people who read it will add it to their collective mindstore of info on Disney, but I don't think the Disney world needs to stop spinning in order to deal with "Foxtrot."

:earsboy:

There is a fundimental difference between being mocked for success and mocked for failure. Both to the public and to Disney.

I agree. But I think it's also silly for Disney to spend time or effort trying to somehow deal with a "Foxtrot" (or any) cartoon. It gives it more importance than it's worth. From a Disney standpoint, you notice, you gauge the response of people around you, and you go back to work. You don't spend a lot of time or effort trying to figure out whether or not this one batch of daily cartoons are affecting your overall perception in the marketplace. You give it the same time and attention you give anyone else's opinion. That's all I'm saying.

:earsboy:

Who siad anything about time and effort Dealing with it?

I only said they probably weren't pleased and certainly wouldn't be LAughing with us. That doesn't imply that they're mounting some campaign agaisnt the message of Foxtrot.
