Fox Car Rental

Hi, I found a great price on a car rental from SAN to LAX with FOX CAR RENTAL. Personnaly, I have never used them or heard about them...anyone knows if its a reputable agency? Thanks!

We used them last year in Sept. when DH and I went to DLR. We flew into SNA. Fox was great. They didn't have the size car we had ordered so they upgraded us to the next level for the same price.

They are not in the airport, though. You have to take a shuttle from the airport to their store. It is really close and didn't take us very long. Plus they give you a really great map for the area and we used it a lot. In fact, we still have it and use it on our trips now.

They are a reputable company (to me) and were very nice with good customer service. We would use them again if we needed to. When we flew in March we looked for them at another airport and they didn't have a store there, we were disappointed since we had used them before and really liked them.

I had a terrible experience with them, maybe yours will be better. I rented a vehicle through Carrentals.com and they provided Fox as the rental company. I didn't have to pay ahead of time like Hotwire so it seemed like a good deal. I would never use Carrentals.com or Fox again. Fox doesn't have their own dedicated shuttle, and they are located way farther away then any of the other rental companies. Fox refused to rent me the vehicle unless I either purchased their insurance (at $30 per day) or provide a copy of my policy AND declarations page showing all my coverages. I have never had to show proof of insurance coverage from any of the larger rental companies. I saw it as a bait and switch - they were located so far away that you couldn't just walk to another rental company. They told me I could call my agent to get a copy of the policy. Well, it was a Saturday and my agent isn't open on Saturday. When I advised them that I read the rental agency agreement on the Carrentals.com page and it never mentioned proof of insurance, the clerk advised me that I should have gone to Fox's webpage and read their policies. I ended up renting a car through HotWire instead of being price gouged. Wow!! Sorry you had such a terrible experience. We didn't have to show our proof of ins. or declaration page! We rented right through their website without a middleman. We called and confirmed a day or two before we went and everything went really smoothly. We didn't pay until we picked up the car.

We're renting from San Diego and returning to L.A. I dont know what the shuttle situation is for those 2 airports. I guess I will call the location directly and ask about insurance and shuttle. Thanks alot and so sorry you had such a bad experience

The deal through CarRentals.Com was like $15 per day. In my case, I really believe that they had no intention of renting the vehicle for that low of a price, and intended to make the difference up with the insurance charges. since you're renting from San Diego it will a completely different location. Hopefully your rental will go smoothly, maybe I just had bad luck. Have fun on your trip!

Thank you for sharing your bad experience. I emailed FOX Customer Care and asked them about the insurances. Here is the reply I got from them. I will print out the email and will have it with me just in case:

Hi, we do not require to show proof of insurance upon arrival. We do suggest that you keep proof of insurance in your possession in the case that you get pulled over by police, you will be asked to show proof of insurance
