Fourth of July Trip

Hello all!

I will be traveling with my boyfriend to Disneyland for the Fourth of July. It’s his first trip there ever and it’s been a couple of years since I have been to Disneyland (I’m a WDW APH and usually end up there a couple of times each year), so I’m looking for suggestions for a first-timer during this specific timeframe. Does Disneyland do anything special other than fireworks for the Fourth? Is there any restaurant that you recommend specifically for this time of year?

I’m really excited for Galaxy’s Edge and going for the Fourth, but I realize how insane it will be. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated to make this special trip for us more magical :-)

Were you planning on seeing F! or WOC? You might want to look into reserving a Dining Package (information and menus can be found on the DLR website). F! has several packages with great viewing (right up front along the water's edge, ground seating). WOC has 2 lunch/dinner packages (standing viewing) and a Dessert Party (the only option with actual chairs).

Seeing both actually. I am torn between Carthay dining or the dessert package. I can’t seem to find the exact dessert party menu online..

You won't find a Dessert Party menu online - it's not that sort of thing. If you google you will find plenty of photos of the Dessert plate. That is essentially it. They change up the exact offerings on it every now and then but the pictures show the basic idea of the plate you will get - some grapes, cheese and 4 or 5 sweet selections.
The table of 4 also receives a bread basket to share. You will also receive 1 or 2 drinks, alcoholic or non alcoholic available. In my experience we've usually been able to get a couple of the alcoholic drinks followed by a hot chocolate but some have reported only being able to get 1 alcoholic beverage.
The DP is pretty expensive at $79/head. Obviously the plate and drinks are not worth that but you are paying to be able to sit in a chair in a much less crowded space. Most of the seats in the DP viewing area are good - there are high top tables and low top regular tables in two rows. If you have a preference for one or the other then it pays to get to the checkin area earlier so you can hopefully get what you want. We would choose a high top table in the front row if we have the choice available.
If it is 2 of you then you will most likely be seated with another couple.
We like the DP because it is the only offering with an actual seat. The dining packages are standing room only and as with the 'free' fast pass sections you really need to get there early if you want a front row viewing position otherwise you will likely be behind others and possibly find it hard to see if you are vertically challenged : )
Hope that helps somewhat. I've not done the dining package for WOC, only the Dessert Party a few times.
