Fourth of July in WDW- What are your plans?

We stayed from July 3-11 last year and on the 4th we didn't go to any parks. We were at the Dolphin and we spent the morning swimming and had lunch at ESPN and swam some more. Later in the day we took a ride to AKL to explore the resort and had dinner there. At night we watched the MGM fireworks from the S/D pool area, while the kids swam again, and then later stood on one of the bridges at the Boardwalk enjoyed the festivities from Epcot. We could hear the music from Illuminations and could see the higher fireworks...and after Illuminations ended there were additional fireworks too. The grand finale was when mother nature added some fireworks of her own because there was lightening in the distance.

We had a relaxing, fun day.

I have visited wdw n the fourth 4 times and before fast pass, the first yr 1992, was insane and i vowed never to do it again. But i liked the fireworks so i did a lot of research and trekked again in 1994 (before fastpass) and took advantage of the EMh and then back to hotel by noon. This last though went without kids and DWand i had PS at GF by the water TIP: and the fourth fireworks are simultanous at MK and the Lagoon. and can be seen both at same time. from boat dock of GF and other places. They have also added buffett at the contempary for this purpose but is very exp. Wheither or not this fourth or not is a question . Enjoy its hot and crowded but be smart, you will survive :cool1:

Been there the past two 4th of July's and went to mgm. It was crowded but manageable. Everyone posts do not go to MK. This year we are going to try epcot. last year we were very disappointed with mgm's fireworks since they only lasted about 5 minutes long and you spent an hour sitting on the ground waiting for them.

buzz2400 - I've always heard MGM's fireworks were great on the 4th, sorry to hear they were disappointing. Where did they show them? Did they show Fantasmic on the 4th also?
