I just booked 6/29-7/6, our 1st 4th of July in Disney World! This is our 14th trip...I've been in July before, just not these dates, and I've been in busy seasons before, so I know what to expect. We're actually thinking about skipping mornings in the parks to sleep in, a first, just hang at the pool and go to the parks late afternoon/evening only. I'm planning on being in Epcot on the 4th. I understand MK should reach capacity, does Epcot? What special Disney Magic for our country's birthday I can look forward to? :wizard:

I'm interested too. We are planning on spending a day at WDW (for a quick fix) after our RCCL cruise. Unfortunately, this means its the Saturday of July 4th weekend. How busy will this be?

Maggie

Maggie,
It will be busy...what park were you planning on that Saturday? I try to avoid MK like the plague on Saturdays...I'm expecting hot and crowded, but I'm not going commando either, so I'll add in fun too!

I'd love to hear more about it from those who have been before.
Anyone care to enlighten Maggie and I???

Hi!

I will be at Disney from June 28th-July 7th. For 4th of July Iwas planning to do a water park in the morning and head to MK for the fire works at night. I hope it won't be too crazy....

2005 - POR June/July
2003 - AS June/July

Never did the parks on the 4th, we always go to Ohana's on the 4th... spend a relaxing day in DTD or other area attractions then make a PS for shortly before the time for Wishes, request a window seat and enjoy! The fireworks are beautiful from the Poly and they even park the water parade right infront of the hotel and show patriotic images on the screens.

We are at WDW during 28 June to 16 July and plan to celebrate your Independence Day at Magic Kingdom. Our plans are to get there REALLY early and just soak up the atmosphere of the day. We really don't mind if we get on a ride or not. We will be doing MK on 2 other days during our holiday so our priority on 4th July will be just to soak up the atmosphere. :teeth:

We'll be at Disney June 29- July 16. Our plans are (tentatively) to spend the morning in Epcot, come back and swim/rest during the afternoon, and hopefully have dinner at LTT in MK. We're staying at GF so we planned on coming back to hotel after dinner to swim and watch fireworks.

Well, we are going to have tickets for everyday we're there so we'll definitely be in a park for the 4th.

Jackie, I'm with you! I am really there to experience the atmosphere, I'm not expecting to "do" anything, but if we manage to get on a few rides that day - great!

Does anyone know if the parks are decorated on the 4th?

Warning Warning!!!! We have been to Disney on July 4th about 10 times so far. Each and every year except 1 MK filled to capacity(and it was unpleasant crowded) The bonus is the parks stay open LATE! They also do two fireworks shows-early and late one- if you are child free hit the late one. We usually go to Epcot(while that one also fills up on July 4th)it doesn't seem as crowded. We will be there again this year so look for us..I'll be the one with the 4 kids :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh and no real decorations that I recall-but there is a special pin released on that day if you are a collector. It obviously can't be that bad if we keep going back....

:crowded: :crowded: :crowded: :crowded: :crowded: :crowded:

We are expecting to do early morning SOMEWHERE and go back to the resort and enjoy the pool. I just can't see us doing MK on the 4th. That would be insanity.

Oh, you have to experience it once! I keep telling myself that ...

2angelsinheaven - sounds like this may be a good plan. I'm also looking for a restaurant that we could make PS and also have view of some fireworks, somewhere in the area....

Anyone....any other restaurants other than Ohanas that would have a view? With 5 kids, it needs to be in reasonable priced restaurant and takes PS; I'd hate to try and 'walk-in' for a table on a holiday! :teeth:

The contemporary has PS seating and a view but WAY more expensive I think. The kiddos depending on their age will either be free (under 3), $3.99-4.99 for kids meal or $9.99 for kids Ohana meal.

i'll be there july 1-9. i spend the morning of the 4th at the marketplace. then i hit the floridian pool during the afternoon. a 6pm dinner at narcoosees. then we watch MK fireworks for the GF shorelines. i tend to go crazy at nite and go into the MK when the crowds leave. it's kinda fun. i love seeing uncle sam mickey at the MK!

well our plans are to wait for my wife and other son to arrive by train and check into SSR. then wandr around and explore the beautiful grounds and then off to epcot. hopefully i can get a PS for R&C around 8-830pm and mabe ill be lucky to score a patio table. if not hopefully they will let us go outside and ill get to enjoy illuminations with my family and enjoy a nice cold yard of Bass Ale

We are planning on spending the day at Epcot. :cool1:

How are the fireworks there? Are they as good as the ones at MK?

Any advice on where and when to get a ps for optimal viewing?

Any details on Epcot's celebration? Any characters dressed up like wdarling saw Uncle Sam Mickey in MK?

java, I know what you mean! I did lots of value season trips in the past, and started going Spring and Summer and love it. I just took a long weekend in Jan., it's just not the same. I love it when all the attractions are open, the late hours, hot enough to enjoy the pool. My kids are still talking about last July, candy shopping on Main Street at midnight...it was like a kid's dream come true... it cracks me up!

Magsmom, I keep telling myself that too... There are other summer weeks we could go, but I have to try the 4th at least once!

HI -- count us in as another newbie to the 4th of July week in Disney (arriving 7/2 to 7/8 at OKW) however our plans are to skip all major parks on the 4th and do either BB or TL and then do the Campfire and Movie at Ft. Wildness with Dinner at WCC or Trail's End. Michelle
