I just booked four seats for $780 CDN with Southwest. I can't believe that. Two out of the four seats were $145.20 each.

Air Canada wanted $2900 (I realize AC put deals on so they might have some better pricing sometime but still).

Last year we paid $1300 CDN flying Southwest so I just wanted to give people a heads up that there are some great deals out there.

Now to be patient for Disney to post some February deals.

We were happy too, got the $62 each way, the cheapest flights we have gotten yet

I got $62 outbound and $96 inbound for the five of us.

I booked our accomodations back in April but now, having purchased the non-refundable plane tickets, I guess it's official.

Only 173 days to go!!!

We use Southwest most of the time because they usually are cheaper.

They still offer no fees for your first 2 checked bags, and no fees for a non alcoholic bverage on board.

You must however keep something in mine. There is no prearranged boking of seats. Starting 24 hours before your departure you can go online a get your boarding pass. The order in which you get you pass determines when you get to board and select your seat.

A new wrinkle is that Southwest just started ofering a new pre check in window where they would do it for you before others could at the 24 hour mark for a $10 / ticket fee. This fee is each way.

As a family you may not all be able to sit together if many take advantage of this new service. If one of your children is young (under 4 years old I believe) you will still be able to preboard and not worry.

I like Southwest but do not like this new pre check in service and will keep it in mine when we book our next flight.

Where are you flying from/to?

I'm guess you'll arrive in Orlando but where are you departing from BUF, PIT, DTW?

Is the 2 free checked bags per person or per reservation?? Anyone know??

We are flying out of Buffalo and we have two small children so I'm hoping the seating issue isn't going to be a problem. They can't let a 3 and a 4 year old sit with strangers. Plus, the strangers won't want to sit with them. DS will freak!

I wouldn't worry about it... We have flown Southwest with 2 young kids.. If you don't get in the "A" group - the first group to board, they let families with kids under 4 board before the next "B" group. There are I think 60 people in the first group so still lots of seats to pick from.. and most people are pretty good about moving around as well..

Excellent deal Angela 1044! It's sad to say, but it doesn't pay to fly Canadian anymore! I would rather drive 2 hours to the US and save megabucks than pay the Canadian taxes!:confused3

We booked 3 tickets with Southwest, $62 both ways out of Buffalo in Feb, returning 2 weeks later in early March. Total, with taxes - $435 US! It would have cost more for "free" Air Miles flights after we paid the taxes, cancellation insurance, etc.

Should we be concerned about not being able to sit together? Can we still sign up for the $10 pre-check in option? For peace of mind....

I booked seattle - orlando for March on southwest for $94 USD each way! Last year I had to pay $179 each way and the price did eventually drop to 129.
Love SW!

I love SW also but very sad that they no longer have non-stop direct flights to Orlando from Detroit. I'm guessing you are not running into that problem??:confused3

No, the flight is direct. I would probably shop around more if it hadn't been. The only thing that was frustrating was I had to book the four of us individually. Two of the tickets cost $145.20 and the other two cost 213.20. The site refused to give me four at the cheaper price.

has anyone booked there whole disney trip through southwest? i normally fly ac but after finding this thread i wont be doing that anymore! thanks!!!

I wouldn't worry too much about the seating. Families can board between the A and B groups. We have flown Southwest two to three times a year for the past 5 years and have never seen anyone have a problem. The flight attendants are very helpful.

Pluses - 2 bags checked per person, no charge, plentiful non-stop flights at the same price as other carriers with one or two stops, great flight times, great prices. We live in Niagara and always fly out of Buffalo. The airport is easy to find your way through, security area is now upgraded. It's a domestic flight, no customs at the airport since you already cleared in your car.

Tickets from Pearson would have to be virtually free for me to fight Toronto traffic, and that big annoying airport !

Just to clarify - 'direct' and 'non-stop' are not the same. Non-stop means your flight takes off from your airport and doesn't touch down again until your destination airport. Direct means the plane will make one or more stops along the way, but you won't have to change planes.

That'd be because there weren't four - or even three - $145.20 fares left on your flight of choice. All the spots at that fare, except the two you were able to purchase, were sold out.

I have been checking the SW site and the cheapest I am getting for January is 1426.00 for 5 of us.

You should try again.
I tried 6 different days in January and they all offered $62 flights.

yes if you are flexible with dates, then use the short cut to cheap rates, and you will find alot of cheap fares
