Day 6- Animal Kingdom

We let the kids sleep just as late as possible as the week wore on. They needed as close to eight hours as possible. That's not always easy with all the great activities at night. Because of this, we arrived at AK a few minutes later (about 8:40) than I would have liked. There was a considerable line already waiting to get in. However, they let us in early, so we didn't have to wait long.

We followed the crowd to Kilamanjaro Safaris. We waited maybe 10 minutes before getting on board. Saw lots of animals, took a few pics. Kids enjoyed this. Also did Tough to be a Bug, Maharajah Jungle Trek, Dinosaur, & Primeval Whirl. The kids loved Dinosaur-I did too. When that dinosaur pops out at you, even when you know it's coming, it's a real adrenaline rush! DW doesn't like coasters, so she waited while the rest of us enjoyed Primeval Whirl. We did have a somewhat long wait, about 20 minutes, but we all laughed so hard, our sides were hurting.

We had lunch at Rainforest since the kids had never been to one before. The closest one to us at home is Houston-a 3 hour drive. DW & I will probably skip this next trip. We've been several times. Still, the food & service was good.

Did the usual shopping/browsing for about an hour before leaving for CR. AK is really a hot park (temp.) in the summer. I guess it's all that vegetation. It's our least favorite among the parks, but still has some good attractions. We thought about doing Kali River Rapids, but just weren't up for getting soaked. We've never done that ride for that reason.

We were all feeling hot & tired by this time. Some of us napped, but our niece wanted to swim, so DW & I took her. Upon returning to the room, we napped a while also. I hadn't planned anything specific for this night, knowing by this time of the week, we would be running low on energy. DW had said earlier she thought we should stay in & rest up. After a good rest, we all felt better.

We decided to try some mini golf over at Fantasia Gardens. We walked to MK & caught a bus to the Swan. I didn't realize we needed a tee time, so we signed up for 9:05 & then walked over to Boardwalk to eat pizza at the Spoodles take-out window. DW & I actually had calzones. The food was delicious & so was the atmosphere. Dusk was settling in, lights were coming on, & the Boardwalk was coming to life. We took a boat back over to Swan to save some walking & then walked the rest of the way.

We played the easier course & all enjoyed it. We laughed at my niece hitting the ball out of bounds on one hole & then making a hole-in-one on the next hole. Great fun.

We walked back over to Swan & decided to catch either a DD or MK bus, whichever was first. DD showed up first, so for the next hour, we rode around WDW on a bus. :(

The good news was, DW was the only one still complaining about a rash problem. Her's seemed to be getting worse.

As the week wore on, we had tried to pass around the duty of refilling our mugs upon returning to our room. It was a long trip from the far end of the CR's south wing to the Food & Fun Center.

Our trip was nearing it's end, but we were looking forward to returning to MK tomorrow. More to come...

Great report ~ Thanx for sharing.
