Okay everyone out there who has four kids and how do you manage it. We just found out that we are pregnant with our fourth. This was not planned in fact we had just decided that three was good. I was ready to start the pill again just waiting for my period which didn't come. Well I am a little shocked. I don't think it has really hit me yet. So when this one is born I will have four under the age of five. How do Disney trips work with four? We were shocked  and then we had a good laugh:rotfl2:

Congrats!!!:cool1: We are having #4 as well! Our kids ages are DS- just turned 5, DD-3, DS- 19months! We are due in July and we can't wait!:yay: You'll be fine! Adding another child in the mix is just going to be that much more fun! I also find that the more kids we have the more I realize how we don't need as much "stuff". I have been alot better at getting organized now that I know we have to otherwise we can't do all the fun stuff! You will do great and love every minute of it!

I'm have a surprise no. 4....due about a week after my oldest goes off to college in the fall! Still waiting for the shock to wear off....

Congrats! I only have 3 kids, but I think after 2, there isn't much difference in how many you add to the family. Good luck! It's wonderful news! :yay:

Oh gosh....sorry but I feel for you!!! I have three, handled one, no problem, had second, thought "what is the big deal" now with number three, "OH MY GOSH, WHAT WERE WE THINKING?????" So a fourth would definately throw me. We'd laugh it off, but phew, I'd be secretely terrified!! Most people say after three, it dosen't matter because you are out numbered, so outnumbered by one or five, really dosen't matter. I am just going to take their word for it!!!

Multiple congratulations on your surprise, and best wishes for a healthy happy pregnancy and baby!!

Ours are now DS20, DD19, DS16, DD15. DS20 and DS16 turn 21 and 17 respectively in August. DS20's birthday is in August and DD15's is in April so at one time for approximately 4 months we had 4 under 6 years old. Not quite a "bad" as you but we were very er, ah, successful every time we tried(We practiced a lot too :love2: :teeth:) We had two at a time in diapers for many years. Eight years of diapers total and going on two decades of 12 loads of laundry a week :laundy:

How do you do Disney(or any vacation) with a family of six? Well, number one you get a fistful of money. Then spend it on two rooms, a suite, condo, or villa, six airline tickets, an expensive minivan rental, and food. You bring a double stroller or two everywhere.

One room will not cut it even if a property will allow it(most won't allow 6). We only stayed on site once because of a huge discount and a WDW insider friend. We had two rooms at the Poly for 5 days. Honestly, it was nice, but we have found condo and villa rentals to enable a much more relaxing and fun vacation at a much more reasonable price.

:teacher: Everything becomes expensive x 6. Multiply airfare, attraction tickets, and meals by 6. Multiply standard hotel accomodations x 2. Car rentals are minivans at 300 to 400 per week. As a result we did a lot of pop-up trailer camping on long trips, taking a 5 week vacation to Yellowstone and Glacier Parks one year, but almost always going on week long trips to nice campgrounds with resort type pools, play pavillions, etc. When we could we always rented 2 bdr+ condos. Having a kitchen saves a lot of money, and separate sleeping areas and bathrooms are a Godsend. We did 4 trips to Orlando/WDW/US/Busch etc over the years and I think it was ample. DS 15 got the short end of the Disney stick as she has only been there twice and does not remember everything as our last Orlando trip was US/Busch/Sea World(I'm an Anheuser-Busch employee and get free tiks to Busch parks - more cheap trip planning) She is really looking forward(as we all are) to our upcoming trip - 4 days to go! My best piece of advice: Find cheap airfares or drive and rent condos. You'll figure out the food savings on your own.

Don't overlook free/cheap attractions. We spent an entire day and night out in Kissimmee on one trip playing mini-golf and riding go carts at several places on free and large discount coupons. Check at work for discounts to attractions, often there are business relationships between companies and or general discounts available.

By the way, just when you think you can glimpse the light at the end of the tunnel, comes orthodonture, cars, college, and ...

Soccer shoes, $43; Orthodonture, $3500; College tutition $60,000 - Look on a father's face when he multiplies it all by four - PRICELESS. :lmao: :goodvibes

We have a surprise #4 as well, although mine are much farther spread apart. We do a lot of sighing, counting to ten, laughing, giggling, crying and hugging. Sometimes I think we are nuts, but they are all so much fun, I wouldn't give them away (except DS2 who is into screaming tantrums right now :lmao: )

Hi -

That is so great!! Congrads to the whole family!! What an awesome surprise gift!!! Have fun with it, they will only be little for so long!! Imagine what it will be like 10 years from now - lol - which is easier!! :rotfl2:

Now, if only God would decide to bless us with one!!!!????

Wendy

First, congratulations!! Mine are 12, 10, 7, 3 so a lot more spread out than yours. My brother has 4 boys who are about as close as yours. In some ways, I think having them spread out is easier. My 2 oldest (12, 10 and 3 are girls) help out with the youngest a lot. They are great with our 3 yr old. But I wouldn't need their help to the same extent if they were closer together. The 2 oldest have such busy schedules with activities, school work, sport teams, dance and friends (my phone line is busy all the time!!). My brother's older kids didn't start having busier schedules until the youngest was old enough to tote around easier and was at least a bit independent.

As for Disney, first, we drive everywhere. Yes, it takes awhile and IMHO, is horrible. But the kids and DH don't mind the drive (from Dallas, Tx). It is just too expensive to fly with 6 family members and we'd rather spend the money at WDW. When we go this July, we are staying in a cabin at FW for the first time. We are looking forward to the space. We can still get away with having only one bathroom, but with 3 girls, we will probably need 2 rooms soon to get 2 bathrooms. We split up some in the parks. I take the youngest to do fun little kid things, while DH rides scarier/height restricted things with the big kids. We make sure I get to ride everything I love too.

It's hard to do WDW with 4 kids, but no harder than lots of things you'll do and a lot more fun and worth it than almost anything else you will do!!

Congratulations!! We are expecting our third right now and we know we'd like a fourth eventually.
What an exciting time for your family! :)

Oh my, I am feeling the shock for you :scared1: :lmao:

Congats to all you expectant DIS'ers.

A gal that I work with is 46 years old and they had been trying for over 20 years and had LONG given up. SURPRISE...she is due the end of July and didn't even know she was pregnant until 24 weeks along...she thought she was going thru the "change" :rotfl2: Talking about shock!!!

I'll probably be flamed but I have to ask- How does everyone have all these "Surprise" babies? Don't you practice birth control or if you're religious the rythm method? Let's face it were not kids here & to me I have no idea how anyone has an "accident".

I think that probably "unplanned" is a better way of putting it, its all the same to me. In a perfect world we all would be using some type of birth control, but there are a lot of different reasons-most don't go right back on bc right after one baby, sometimes your in the midst of your change. My mother had been told she couldn't have any more children after me...and SURPRISE...14 years later my littlest sister came along. When the doc tells you that you can't have anymore, you tend to believe him and I know I wouldn't be using bc if I didn't have to. Even my mother's doctor was shocked, so it happens. Some women can't take bc and I happen to have a latex allergy...just try and find those sheepskin condoms they make...not an easy feat, and even at my age, me and DH still get a little wild and spontaneous  and "protection" is not always on hand-even with the best of planning ahead.

The rhythm method doesn't always work. I am fairly regular but 6 months ago I was 2 weeks late and then then next month I was 2 weeks early. Sometimes your body is off schedule and you don't know it.

Also, other birth control methods are not always 100% effective and some can, um, tear.

Congrats to the op!!

While I appreciate someone being "wild & spontaneous" that doesn't always mean responsible. We are pretty much always spontaneous, however, we are 98-99% sure we are responsible as we have taken precautions to be permanently safe. I'm sorry & i don't mean to be rude but i just don't get it???

It's a little personal but I'll answer our surprise #4 question. I had trouble getting pregnant with the first 3 (the third baby was the hardest and required some medical help to stay pregnant). Even so, we were using condoms when I became pregnant with #4. I did not know I was pregnant until I was 8 wks along because I had a period after I got pregnant. I only did a test because I was so sick to my stomach and was about to go to the doctor to figure out why. I took the test since I figured that would be the first thing the doc would check. I just thought I'd save them the trouble. I was stunned when the stick said preggers. In fact, I took 3 tests to confirm:lmao: . Once my kids start liking the opposite sex, I'll have a visual aid (our youngest cutie) to point to when explaining that birth control isn't always effective!!

I also want to add that I have several friends who became pregnant while on the pill and surgical methods of "permanently" fixing oneself are not 100% effective either.

I guess I'm irresponsible and I'm okay with that. :thumbsup2

We have 5 kids ages 15,13,7 and 5 yr old twins and we are going to WDW on June 12th please pray for me.LOL It will be fine with 4 I promise. My wife and I just seem like we are going to the grocery store every day trying to feed all of them and next year they all will be in school and they have to wear uniforms and that will be fun on the budget. Congrats again on your news.

I previously stated that we are 98-99% fixed. I find it hard to believe that someone can have several friends who have conceived while on the pill or who took surgical measures as a form of birthcontrol. The effective percentages prove otherwise or perhaps you know many people personally who share this info.
