I hear ya about the job situations sucking. My husband works for the one company thriving in this sucky economy so since he is on salary, he works 14 hour days. It's so hard I feel like I have to do everything by myself. Maybe that is why I am finally getting excited about going away. I will see him more than after I get home from work, waking up him and getting him out the door!

See, now we are use to the 14 hours days with DH. Most of the time we've been together, he's worked like that. To us, it's just normal. Now...he's home at least times a week. We're stressed because he's home too much. And it makes it harder to enjoy our time together.

But, if it wasn't the normal to work so many hours, it would totally stress me out the same way. It seems as though nobody can win whichever way it goes.

I guess it is weird for us to, since we are empty nesters. I am pretty isolated at my job to, I'm surprised I dont talk to myself all day long!

Sure, there's someone there to talk to and yell at. Does not mean in the slightest that anyone actually listens to you. DD13's favorite phrase...."Huh, what did you say? Were you talking to me?"

OMG!!! That is so my DH. We will actually be having a conversation and he can fall asleep. Heck, that man has fallen asleep in the strangest places....including the stairs at my parents old house. Not to be outdone by sitting on the ledge around a fountain at a major amusement park. Dozen of people walking by and tons of kids screaming, and he's sound asleep.

LITC...how's that tooth going? Hope you feel better. Getting excited for the trip too (when I'm not looking for cheaper rental rates). Can't wait to meet you. I'm thinking Friday night at EPCOT? Drinks maybe?

I have pets. They're a great excuse to talk out loud to no one in particular. I had a great conversation with Meow Ming last night while making bean burritoes. He's an excellent sous-chef!

Hello, hope all is well with everyone. We had some hail here yesterday and some snow overnight. It's a bit warmer now.
My tooth is still killing me! I left the dentist a message that I had a major toothache that I need help with ASAP, he isn;t open today but I hope they call in the morning. And if not, my husband had an appointment to have a crown put on--but they will be seeing ME instead!!!

Hope you get in to see that dentist soon. What's with all the teeth problems this year? First Whgrn, then Pepper and now LITC.

Kitty - The weather here stinks! Cold and rainy/sleeting. We got 3-5 inches of snow this weekend and it was doing a good job of melting. We didn't even have to shovel.

That free dining promo is sooooo tempting. I'd love to go on vacation in July & Aug and then again in Dec. My DH just laughed at me. His job continues to stink. They keep outsourcing more stuff to India and they are not letting him replace workers that he loses. That can only mean one thing...the dept will dissolve by the end of the year. Although we're not letting it rule our lives, we are being more cautious and saving as much as we can.

Hey D&D! Sorry about the weather you're having. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is the end of stinky weather!

I know what you mean about being careful with finances. I just say my prayers that things will turn around for everyone and we will weather out this storm. I took a big hit taking the girls to Disney this month, but they've had a rough couple of years and as long as we're careful, it'll be okay. I want them to have a once in a lifetime experience--unfortunately, part of that experience wil be a super cheap flight that leaves Orlando at 5am!

We really had to crunch the numbers for bounceback. When I booked last year, I had to put down at $200 deposit. The quote for the two of us for a week is $950, so that was a great price for a trip for two, with hotel, food, and two one day passes. Plus, we've had a year to save for it which helped out.

On the other hand, I'm a sales hound. I'm making my grocery list as we speak. I love to match sales with coupons--I'm pretty good at it! Its a cheap thrill to look at my receipt and see that I saved nearly half. Lately also, my grocery has been having coupons for fruit and veggies, which was the big budget busters for me. I've had to sharpen my culinary skills since we don't eat out as much.

At least for one week at Disney, I don't have to worry about cooking and cleaning up!

Morning!!!!! It's pretty nice here today....still a little windy but not a cloud in the sky.

D&D, DH is second in overall points but you beat him in the weekly points. He went as far to say the points are rigged and he's not playing anymore. Wah,wah,wah. Men are nothing but big babies.

Things are looking pretty grim at DH's job too. He's still working plenty to take care of what needs to be taken care of but a lot of the extras are gone. Clipping coupons like crazy and I've started shopping at a discount grocery store for the kids' snacks. It saves a bit every week and right now, every bit helps.

Magikitty, your nieces are not going to care one bit about the early flight. They're going to Disney World!!!! They might grumble about the early morning but in the long run, they are going to remember their wonderful Aunt who took them to see Mickey Mouse and Cinderella's castle.

D&D!!!! You rock! That thread totally helped me out....I priced out my vacay on the Disney site and it is cheaper! About $70 cheaper! I just eft a message with my AAA agent and she's going to make the necessary adjustments. That savings alone will pay for BF's one day ticket. We'll upgrade it using my Disney Rewards...
