We have plans to head out to the stores to look at a new Plasma TV. DH has been drooling over them for months now and he's hoping he can find a good deal on the style and brand that he wants.

Sounds like our DHs would get along well...we apparently are also getting a new TV at the January sales...it's got to be 47" too...why it has to be that big is beyond me???

Oh and I have 2 crockpots as well...use to have 3...use them all the time.

Hey. When do you guys call the doc for your kids fevers?

BL has had just the weirdest fever this time around. He's been a bit fussy (attributing it to the possible teething.) Then, on Tuesday, I took his temp, and it was around 99.6. Didn't really worry, he's a baby after all (4mo). That night it was back to 98.6. Checked Wed morning, and it was 98.7. Cool!

Wed afternoon, he felt warm, and it was up to 101.7, but he'd just finished a crying session. Waited a few minutes, took it again and it was 100.7. So, we gave him Tylenol. He evened out at about 100.3 w/ the Tylenol and stayed there-ish all night.

He's home w/ DH today, and all day he had been fine. (A little cranky, but not bad.) DH took his temp a few times and it was 99 with no Tylenol. Thought we were out of the woods. He took it again at 3pm, and it was back up to 101. :scared1:

I've never seen a fever jump around like this. My doc usually isn't very concerned about fevers (wasn't w/ DS unless something else was wrong too.) And, I usually would call if it had been a day and a half of consistent high fever, but its been up and down?

Checked a few parents and medical sites and everybody seems to disagree about when to call and when not. What do you guys do?

Happy day after Christmas everyone. Hope santa visited every one and every body got what they wanted. My DH got me a gorgeous Sapphire (my birthstone) and diamond ring. I can't stop looking at it. Good job DH!
Although DH has had a horrible cold from working outside one of the days we were at 1 degree here and I think I woke up with it today. He really could have stopped shaing with the ring!! My head feels like people are kicking me fom each side.

Sorry to hear about BL lighttech. I have no kids so I don't really have any clue what to do. I would say call the Dr. if it worries you, that is what they are there for.

Lighttech, I would just call anyway and see what they say. Even though it will be nothing to worry about, you'll feel better if you call. My kids would sometimes get strange fevers and I would just call to double check with the doctor. Sometimes, they knew if something was going around and tell me what to watch for.

Hugs to BL. Hope he feels better soon.

Thanks. I think I'm mostly obsessing b/c I wish I was home w/ him instead of at work. I'm sure DH is doing a great job, but the Mommy in me just wants to be there to cuddle him.

Racetrack... I see you... where aaaaaaarrrrre youuuuuu?

Thanks. I think we'll keep an eye on it and call in the morning... nobody in the office now anyway. I just realized that I'm supposed to take him for his 4mo shots on Monday or Tues (can't remember which) and I know they won't do it if he's been sick, so I'll either need to change to an earlier appt. if they want to see him, or possibly a later one if they can't give him the shots yet.

Shots... yuck. I don't mind them myself, but I HATE watching my kids get them.

Good evening everyone! and Happy Boxing day!

Glad to hear that Santa was good to everyone, kids are happy, and relatives have visited and departed. My sister eventually made it home, at 2:30 and we had family dinner at my brother's place. The nieces and nephews really liked their gifts--I feel that we did the best job yet. Then my parent and brother drove my sister BACK down to the city at 9pm. She was home for basically 6 hours! But she did laundry, was fed, got gifts, and took pictures, so it was well spent.

I too get really excited over the weirdest things, but i have to admit that a crock pot isn't one of them. I don't know how to cook with it! Or the pressure steamer. I'm pretty much a microwave or oven baked kinda girl. I do love cookbooks, but when it says "crockpot" or "broiler", I just ignore that recipe.

Lighttech, I'm late to the fever conversation, but I'd keep close watch on the fever and call the doctors to let them know about the fever so you can change the shots appointment. If he's getting his first tooth, then his fever can go up and down, epecially if you're already giving him baby Tylenol.

MSP, congrats on the new apartment with BF!

I love the elliptical too. It just makes me giggle. I feel like a lumbering elephant on it. Just swaying from side to side is just so funny to me.

Going out for drinks later with a girlfriend in town for the weekend. Its supposed to get slick later, and I"m praying that it holds out until after midnight. Its not often that I get to see her!

TTYL ladies!

We ended up with a 37" because that is what will fit on the TV stand that we allready have and I guess it's the right size for our living room (DH read somewhere about how to determine which is best for your room). I made a huge mistake when I said we were gettinga plasma TV! He wanted a LCD. You're not suppose to make that mistake!

Oh yeah, I have 4 crock pots. 6qt, 5qt, 3qt and a 1 qt. I usually use the 1qt to do fondue.

Unfortunately we have a big livingroom so the big TV will probably work...he is already figured out how to redo the TV cabinet to fit the bigger one. Something about cutting it in half horizontally and taking a chunk out then putting the top back on lower???? I just nod my head and tell him that I want a new computer then!!

When I worked in the pedi office, we generally told people to call for anything over 101. As long as BL is drinking, wetting, and doesn't seem overly sick, it could just be teething, or a cold. I would definitely let them know before his shots though, since they may not want to give them yet.

Hope he feels better soon!!

As usual, I'm a day behind (or more), but someone sent me the link for this and I just had to make one. Someone on here had done something similar (Ev?) but I never got around to making one until just now. For a good laugh, check it out!

http://elfyourself.jibjab.com/view/zecKmUCOnZB5XRJOcwGb

Nope wasn't me that mentioned it but I did do something similar last year for my nephew...definitely good for a laugh.

I made one of those jibjab cartoons last year but it was a snowball fight. Had my kids and my nephew in it. They are pretty funny.

lighttech, I was going to ask about immunizations. I knew it was time for them. Most websites I looked at said not to worry either but I know how it is. You never stop worrying. It's most likely that tooth coming in. I remember those days.

I'm so glad everyone had a great holiday. DH got me the 2 best gifts...for me at least. :lmao: A new Kyle Busch shirt since I only had one. Going to have to wear it the next time I get a chance to catch up with M&N. And a gift card to Barnes & Noble. I can't wait to spend it.

Love my crockpot too. It's perfect for those days when I really don't feel like cooking. Throw something in there when I make my morning coffee and don't have to worry about it again.

We got out big screen tv last year as a belated family gift. I think it's a 47 inch and a LCD. :confused3 All I know is it works and looks nice. Let DH pick that one out since that's his contribution to what goes in the house. :rolleyes1

Have a great night everyone!!!!!!!!

Catch ya later.

Good Morning :wave2:
Just checking in from Tallahasse FL this morning. We are heading towards New Orleans today and will be there tonight. I really can't wait to be home-I miss Winkleman and my laptop:laughing: I am such a homebody. Plus, we have all our Christmas to do still and I wanna see my DM's face when she see the gift I got her.:rotfl:

We had a great time this trip and think we will have to cancel our June trip to go back again in December next year. We figure why leave a hot climate to go to another one and stand in lines:confused3 We never waited in a single line longer than 20 minutes at any ride and even got into the Rose and Crown for lunch (it was Boxing Day;) )with only a 20 minute wait.

Gotta get-they limit your time on the hotel internet.

More later.

Have a great day

WOW and I was impressed with my one!

Good morning everyone!
Today is DBF's 21st birthday. We are going to the Texas Roadhouse, this means a blooming onion, and I am VERY excited!!!!

I hope everyone survived the stores yesterday.

Good morning everyone! Icy and slushie here. Its supposed to warm up a bit this afternoon so hopefully we can get rid of some of this ice!

Happy Birthday MSP's DBF! 21 too! a blooming onion! I'm so jealous! I haven't had one of those in years! My BF doesn't like onions, so if I order one, I have to eat it all, and even I can't do that to myself. Hope you have wonderful weather and an awesome birthday!

Bopsmom, you and the family drive safely!

Lighttech, how's BL doing?

We're totally having the new TV talk over here too. I have a TV armoire, so luckily that limits how big we can go, coz I'm not getting rid of that! I have to do more research on it...

Watching the Disney Christmas parade the other day, I totally felt "homesick" for the holidays at Disney. I really want to change our tentative trip ffrom October to December. But if next winter is anything like this one, I may never get to Orlando! That's my main concern with flying during the winter--actually getting to the airport and having the plane leave the tarmac.

So far, I've made my list of things I want to bring next month to the Phils. Even that is overwhelming me. I want to bring as little as possible, so there's more space to pack my gifty-stuff. But shopping for clothes and shoes over there is impossible for me, so I have to pack for every occasion, because I can't get it when I'm over there. Its stressing me out at the moments and I'm just going to ignore it for now.

I miss all the holiday programming already! Everyone have a great day!

Thanks for the advice everybody.

Whgrn - Thanks very much. Good to get guidelines from someone that actually worked in a pedi office. I did ask about the shots... well sort of. More on that below.

Actually, I need my ladies as a sounding board this morning!! I'm in a lousy mood, stuck at work, and I don't want to bite any innocent heads off. (Just warned our intern that I'm having a bad day.) DH was home w/ BL yesterday since I had to work, and I'm trying REALLY hard to remember that just b/c he does things diff't doesn't mean they are wrong. ("Lighttech, stop being a control freak. DH is a great Dad and takes good care of the kids.", etc. I tell myself.) So, when he didn't want to call the Dr. yesterday, I said o.k. We'll wait till morning. And, BLs temp was only like 99 all day anyway... not even really a fever for a little guy. Then around 3 it spiked up to 101. DH said "Let's wait it out, we'll call in the morning." Arrgghhh! "OK" say I. DH was the one w/ him and said he was playing, peeing, etc. all those things Whgrn mentioned.

So, this morning, BLs temp is 100. Not bad. (A baby is considered to have a fever at 100.5) But, still enough that I wanted to call the Dr. during his "available hours." So, I paged him. DH answered when Dr. called back. I tensed up b/c I wanted to talk to him, but I figured "Hey, we just talked about the questions, the details of the fever and, anyway, DH was home w/ BL all day yesterday." So, he chats away, asks me questions a few times to confirm the temperatures which for some unknown reason he can't remember for more than 10 seconds and hangs up. Tells me that the Dr. said that since he really hasn't had an official fever since Christmas Day, to wait it out until Monday and call then if there's still a problem. I say "Didn't you tell me his fever was at 101 when he was with you yesterday?" DH says "Umm. I don't know, was it?"

SERIOUSLY!!! WE JUST TALKED ABOUT THIS!!! AND I'M NOT THE ONE WHO WAS HOME!!!

So, I calmly say "Yes, in the afternoon, it spiked to 101. That's why we decided to call today. You should probably call the Dr. back."
DH gets totally defensive and says "Fine. You can talk to him this time since I obviously can't keep things straight and you know it all."

I was SO MAD!!! Here I am trying not to criticize and stay calm and he goes completely idiot on me. I tried to reassure him that I wasn't criticizing his parenting. I mean, really, this wasn't a matter of opinion! He got the facts wrong!!! Its sort of important for the Dr. to know what actually happened. Plus, he knew I was already late and had to leave for work. Its such a cop out. Its like if he does it wrong he knows I'll just handle it next time. Well, I'm not taking the bait!
I'm already pissed enough that he could have just taken BL to the Dr. on Friday by himself (we had sent DS to daycare that day so DH didn't have too much to deal with - God forbid he take care of a sick kid and a well kid all at once.) And now, instead, I'll get to drag both kids on Monday if we have to go. But, I didn't even bring that up (until later in the argument :scared: ) but, I'm not going to wait around the house to talk to the doctor on the phone!

Plus, addressing the side note above. I asked DH to ask about the shots. I heard part of the conversation, and he mentioned the 4 month appt., but didn't actually ask if we should reschedule. So, when I asked him about that he just said "Well, he didn't say anything..." So, I don't have a firm answer on that either.

So much for letting go... It would have been a thousand times easier if I'd just taken over yesterday. This is NOT a good experience for me to learn to take on less responsibility.

So, DH and I sort of made up, but not really. I'm still pissed at him, I'm still slightly worried about BL, I have no idea what to do about the appt coming up. Basically, nothing is resolved, and I'm in a pissy mood, and now I have to try and focus on work all day.

Some days just stink.

Thanks for listening...
