The other day I was roaming around Costco with my sister-in-law. I was wearing my Disney Sweatshirt that says "2006" on it. Some guy started talking to me about Disney and he was telling me that he has a timeshare there. He was telling me that when he bought in back in 1995 (I believe that was the year), it cost $9800 and he got four free passes for life!!! Did anyone else get this deal? That's AMAZING! Man, if they still had that offer, I'd totally jump on a DVC!

You sure he's not a bus driver in real life?;)

I gotta say-it seemed too good to be true! That's why I asked you experts! You would all know more than I would!

the passes were not for life

they quit Dec 31, 1999

so if he is still getting free passes - want to know HOW

it was 2 for a studio and 1-bedroom

4 for 2-bedroom
and
6 for 3 bedroom

I think what he meant was when he bought DVC in 1995, he would receive two or four tickets with 1 day on them. DVC took that perk away shortly after that year. Not sure how many tickets each DVC member received and/or how many days were on the tickets. It was a DVC perk and we all know perks come and go.

they were for the entire time. if you stayed 5 nights you got a 5 day pass.

they stopped when BWV was build. but OKW and VB still included them that year.

BWV never included them.

When I bought in '93 they included free tickets to the existing parks until 2000. If you stayed three nights you got a three park ticket (MK, EPCOT, Disney Studios) for three days. You could specify whether the ticket started the day you arrived or the next day.

The number of tickets you were provided were based on the size of the room as stated by a prior person.

It was real hard buying tickets when we hit the year 2000, not having bought one in 7 years. Also we did not go to the Animal Kingdom the first year they opened since it was not included in the free tickets.

me too- waited until 2000 when had to buy tickets to see AK....

It wasn't a perk, it was a sales incentive. The end date was clear upfront (12/31/99). It was only for people who bought at OKW (&VB?) before mid 1996. I have a friend who bought at OKW later in 1996 and did not get them, she just missed it.

We got a perk to add on in either 2004-2005 that with a minimium add on we could have picked extra week stay or 2 AP that can be started when ever you wanted to use them, we picked the AP and still have not activated them yet, trying to pick the best time to get the most use of them.

so far that was only offered at SSR.

really surprised that they have not offered that at AKV.

Correct..we bought in 1994 and enjoyed the free passes until 1999 when reality hit and we had to purchase passes..we have gotten over the shock and never regretted our purchase and have added on twice (HHI) since original OKW purchase..It was a great perk!!!!

The free tickets were based on how many nights you stayed. (7 night stay was 7 day pass) We bought in '93 and it was a great perk. We always brought AP for the kids and DH & I took the free tickets, was well worth it. It was a shock to start buying tickets, but never regretted it.

There was an incentive like that in 2009 that was good at both AKV and VGC that included AP's. It ran for several months. You could choose your AP's either at WDW or DL. The minimum was a pair of AP's for I believe a minimum of 125 points, or 4 AP's for 250 or something like that. When we added on more points at VGC we chose the dollars off incentive instead, but it was tempting.

i bought in 09 at AKV for 160 points and i recieved 8 non expiring AP's for WDW. (now by non-expiring that means i can activate 1 whenever i want) so if i plan it out right i will have tickets for the next 16 years.

This is how it worked up until 1999, then it ended! It was an awesome deal at the time.
