Four Brits hit the world the TR! ***Finished***

Here's the thing about splitting your stay Jo. You'll have to buy 2 packages! Make sure you do the math on that one. I do think though that renting DVC points may be your best bet to stay at BC at least there you can purchase the DDP. Wow, have fun figuring this one out! :lmao: LY!

And in a 1 bedroom, you have a kitchen to save on breakfasts (order from Garden Grocer or WeGo Shop so you don't have to do the grocery store stop on the way from the airport)

I've been told I can go back to my perfect holiday spot and now I'm all confused :rotfl2: It really is ridiculous the difference in prices between companies  Oh well it's keeping me busy :rotfl2:

That is the sweetest thing!

What great choices you have, Jo. It's all good! And, if we've all learned a thing or two from V an LL, you can change your mind three or four times between now and August :rotfl:

Well, I'm CHEAP! I'd either stay at POR or AKL. But, again, I'm CHEAP!
But the suggestion to split your stay is a good one...half the time at POR and the other half at BW? That might make it fall within your budget.
scratchin:

What?????? :faint: You're killing me David! :furious:

That's so true, once I get the flights I can have lots of fun ;) :rotfl2:

Right I've been pricing up and :scared1: I think I've found the cheapest way to do it as the packages are all ridiculous!!! So I'm going to buy my flights direct using some miles (they don't get released for about another week or 2 though!) and that comes to about $5000 total, please don't tell me about all of your $30 return flights please  :rotfl2: Then to get the free DDP it looks best to buy direct with WDWUK now this is where the problem comes in and I need you all to help me choose. All these include 14 day hopper/water tickets and the DDP.........

1) POR $3472
2) AKL $4536
3) WL $5656
4) Swan $5712 no DDP though
and lastly the one I wanted but  and it's only a standard room
5) BC $6832

Or does anyone know a better way of booking it????

BTW if I did BC as a package inc flights with Virgin Holidays it comes to over $14,000 :scared1:  :scared1:

Thank you my unpaid travel advisers :rotfl:

Oooohh...BC would be nice, but if I was being budget-conscious, I'd think about either WL or AKL, both of which I love, love, love. I actually love the inside of the AKL more than the inside of the WL, so much in fact I now own AKL furniture... Plus the lodge is GORGEOUS, the animals are awesome, it's just a great experience staying there...

WL has the advantage of being a MK resort - you can watch the EWP from the beach at night, hop a boat to the MK - an awesome way to start your day, BTW.:cloud9: They have great food, a beautiful resort that really makes you feel like you're at a gorgeous mountain lodge...

I'd be hard pressed to choose between the 2 - I love so many different things about the both of them.

Hi Jo! I'm still so happy for you - but I know how you're feeling right now. It's the 'Day After' and now the number crunching and REAL planning has begun. :headache: I have a question... is a 14 day park hopper less expensive than an AP? Too bad you didn't buy APs on this last trip - you might have been able to overlap the two vacations by a week to save money. We're getting 3 trips out of 1 set of APs. Out of your list of possible resorts... I like AKL and WL. You could always do a split-stay to try out both! Changing resorts isn't that bad... right, V?! ;) Seriously, if you only switch once, then it's like getting two vacations in one. You could always look into renting DVC points and staying in a BWV or BCV if you want to stay in the Epcot area. I bet you could stay in a 1-bedroom villa for much cheaper than the standard room at BC that you were quoted... something to think about...

Happy Planning,
Michelle

Can UK residents get an AP and get an AP discount on rooms/packages?? There's a thought...

And I agree with Michelle as well, about renting DVC points as an option...you could look at a points chart, figure on $10-12/dollars per point to rent and then go to WDW's website and price up what it would cost vs. renting...GOTTA be cheaper!

And of course, there's golf at SSR....:thumbsup2

I've been told I can go back to my perfect holiday spot and now I'm all confused :rotfl2: It really is ridiculous the difference in prices between companies  Oh well it's keeping me busy :rotfl2:

BTW T the Poly comes out at $7,000, but David said he, wait for it, didn't like it :faint: :lmao:

What doesn't David like about the Poly? We must have reasons, David...was it the drunk girls on the beach? Or the drunk patrons in the restaurant???:confused3

And what if you DIDN'T do the dining plan (unless it's free)...you guys only eat half the stuff anyway...that may save additional money...

BTW - I said to Tony "Guess who had such a great time that he wants to go back again next year" When I said David, he said "why? It couldn't have been because of the golf game"

Count us in - even for a weekend visit!

I promised my mother - without getting into a long story - that provided certain criteria are met - that I'd take her to WDW next year - sometime around October I was thinking...but that's a long ways off...

What?????? :faint: You're killing me David! :furious:

Lucky girl! I have to chose either October or August. Dangit! :headache:

No problem Jo, Here is my 2 cents FWIW:rotfl:
I would do WL if Poly or grand is not an option. However I must say that my DH never liked the poly(he stayed there once a few years ago). Well in July we went for a few nights and stayed at POR-riverside. It was horrible for us and we were able to switch to the Poly. Well........he LOVED IT. It was such a great room and the service was great. He liked it so much we are booked there for May and we own DVC at WL!!!
I also agree that renting points is a great option. You can prob get a 1br for the same price or less than you would get a std somewhere else.

The food!:lmao: Deep fried dough rolled in powdered sugar. My diet starts again tomorrow!:)

Jo, does David realize his picture has been posted, making it easier for us to stalk you???:lmao:

Here's my 2 cents' worth...

1. Is the free dining really a deal for you? What I mean is, IF you could get a room discount, would you still eat as much, and as many TS meals, as with the dining plan? If so, stick with the free dining/rack rate room. Otherwise, you may be able to save some serious money with a discount....

2. Can you get an AP? That gets you the best room-only discounts. It's been getting harder and harder to score these, but late August is easier than other times of year. The caveat? You may need to be flexible in your resort preferences. Also, what about the Disney Visa discount packages that come out sometimes - do they apply to UK residents?

3. Of the ones you listed... I'm ALL in favor of AKL or WL :thumbsup2 Both are 2 of my favorite resorts. I'm not a fan of the BC rooms, personally and I think they're WAY overpriced.

4. What about renting points for DVC? I don;t know what thye run, but may be less expensive for more room.

5. Despite my personal experiences  I'm all in favor of a split stay. I think you're there long enough that a week in each would be fun!

Well since DM threw in her photos of the WL I thought I would share mine to help convince you!;)

As you can probably tell I think you should go with the WL!

Hey Jo!

Having a good weekend? We had to go get hay today--we are in a drought here and had to drive 50 miles to buy $100 hay. We are praying for rain soon.

Question--do the girls sleep well in a bed together? How well did you all get ready with 1 bathroom?
These are questions we are pondering for the next trip. I am looking at the Contemporary cause it has a sofa-bed. And my inlaws LOVED Saratoga for the extra room.
Or we could go with 2 value rooms, I guess.....

Then again--the wilderness lodge shots look good too--thought I was still on Mo's report!!!

Then again--the Swan and Dolphin have Sheraton points.....

So......did I help some with your decision???? :rotfl2:
