I'm sorry if I'm asking this in the wrong place, I have no idea where to turn. We have been planning the CP for our return trip to WDW since last September. I had surgery nine weeks ago that effectively removed my ability to eat more than three ounces at a time (this is the amount I'll max out with, it's forever). My question is, can you attend a buffet without eating if a medical condition exists? I would hate to pay a massive amount for a buffet that I can't eat at. :( Thanks in advance for any help!

my friend had that same surgery and her doctor gave her a card she carries for regular restarunts at home etc. but at Disney when we did buffets she had to buy the meal and just eat what she could or same with QS she could share one of hers or eat some off one of ours. If your on the dining plan all in the same room have to be on it the plan anyhow. If your paying out of pocket yourselves then you could just eat what you can. It is just one of the things that go along with the surgery for the rest of her life as well.

I figured that would be the answer, just figured I would look into it. Restaurants at home aren't a big deal, my family just has to share with me!lol Oh well, it's not a big deal. Thanks!:)

As was said, especially in the case where there are characters, you're also paying for the atmosphere and experience, not just the food. Paying for things you won't be able to eat much of or not at all, will become a way of life for a long while for you now. I came to terms w/ it pretty quickly when I had the surgery and just modified our plans to only do these kinds of meals when the rest of the family was relaly going to enjoy the experience. I still to this day, 8 years later, can't finish a moderate plate of food, and I don't try to either. ;) Juts be OK w/ the cost and the wasted food you won't eat when you do get some. Thankfully, Disney is one place you can order from the kids menu (other than buffets where you'll pay adult prices no matter what) and they won't ask for any proof of your surgery. I always found that a bit awkward so I ended up not doing it after a while at home. Good luck!

I'm discovering the whole paying for things I'll never eat fun. We went out for dinner yesterday for DH's birthday. I shared a grilled shrimp platter with DD12, and she ate way more of it than I did. I'm okay with paying for character meals, as our OOP cost to feed me is now next to nothing!lol I'm honestly more concerned with food quality, I have developed lots of natural food aversions since being sleeved, and anything remotely greasy turns what's left of my stomach!lol
