Found out about Teppanyaki sushi & lobster

There was an earlier discussion about whether there were any restrictions to what you could order on the dining plan at Teppanyaki. A couple of people said they were told they could not order sushi as an appetizer or lobster for dinner. We were there last September and ordered both.

I called Disney Dining Reservations to find out. CM looked several different places for info. and could't find anything. She said they would know about it if there were any restrictions. So, we'll definitely be dining there again in August. :)

THis is crazy , but we have 2 toddlers, my DH loves sushi, do they do take out sushi?! My kids would never sit through it!

Teppanyaki.... Where is that and is this a restaurant on the dining plan? I can;t find it on the 2006 disney dining plan...

epcot i believe (don't hold me to it though) and it is on the list as being part of the plan on allearsnet.com.

We ate at Teppanyaki on the dining plan in August 2005 and in November 2005.

When we went in August I had the sushi as an appetizer and the lobster with my meal and it was included in the dining plan.

When we went back in November the Lobster and possibly the sushi were "upgrades" to your meal. So, you could choose your appetizer, and main course, but if you wanted sushi or lobster you had to pay for the "upgrade" out of pocket. I can't recall what the cost of the sushi was, but the lobster was $8 additional. I didn't pay for the upgrade and I still felt like I got a good value from the dining plan.

I mean no disrespect to the CM you spoke to but...they do not always have all the information.
Many of the World Showcase restaurants are not owned by disney and they can make up their own rules.
People who come to the boards have been told at time of ordering that the sushi and lobster were not allowed.
Will you be very disappointed if you get there and can not have the sushi or the lobster? I would love to try that restaurant but the rest of my group is boring, the lobster sounds great but If I were told no it would not ruin my day. Are you the same? Don't take the risk if it will ruin your meal. OR look for the direct phone number to Teppanyaki and ask the restaurant itself.

I called Disney dining again and told them that CM told me there were no upcharges at Teppanyaki and asked for their direct phone number. CM called the restaurant for me and they told her there are no restrictions to the menu on the dining plan. She did say if you wanted to "add lobster" to your entree, there would be an additional charge. But if you ordered one of the lobster entrees it was not extra. Same with the sushi.

Lobster and sushi is the reason we booked it again. Most of our group had it last time, but don't want to "pay" for it this time. I didn't order either one, so I don't really care one way or the other.

If I could order that on the dining plan, it would probably be the best meal of our trip (providing it tastes as good as it sounds). If anyone who is going soon can confirm, that would be wonderful. Although, I'd think that just because they may allow it today, doesn't guarantee tommorrow. An extra 8. to add it to the (free) dining plan entree is actually not a bad deal, though. If it isn't part of the plan, I may consider paying for the lobster upgrade OOP and give DD3 more of whatever my DP entree is!

I believe that what they did was take the steak and lobster combo off the menu all together and put the lobster on as an "add on". In other words, you can order the steak on the DDP, but pay extra to add on the lobster. I can't remember how it was said that they were doing the sushi.

I now remember what happened with the sushi.

The menu has a section for appetizers that inludes soup, salad, and endeme(sp). There is a different section of the menu entitled "Sushi." So, you technically can have any "appetizer" on the menu without being able to order the sushi.

Suzy...you'll find this restaurant listed in the dining plan literature as Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki in Epcot. Hope that helps!

She said they would know about it if there were any restrictions.
As others have mentioned, this is untrue. The CMs at the reservations center do not know the restrictions at individual restaurants. Only the CMs at the restaurants, i.e., your server, knows what the restrictions are at any particular restaurant, and the restrictions are subject to change, so they won't even know what they are, for sure, until pretty-much the day of your visit. What we do know is that guests have reported that Teppenyaki seems to have the most restrictions, so guests beware.

The menu on allears lists sushi under apps, there is no steak & lobster entree, & any lobster dish is listed under "specialties"....

The menu on AllEars is about a year old.

OP states that they ate there last September and they had both the lobster and the sushi. We ate there in October and could have neither on the Dining Plan. As others have stated, they took the steak and lobster entree off of the menu completely. Lobster is an "Add-on" so theoretically you can create a steak and lobster combo - for extra, and again theoretically you can still have anything on the menu, the steak and lobster is no longer there. It is a loophole. Also the sushi was no longer listed as one of the appetizers, but rather in a separate category - extra cost. So again, you could have any appetizer it is just that sushi is not an appetizer. The CM gave you the correct answer, but I believe it is misleading you.
If the reason you are booking this restaurant is to be able to experience these 2 things, I fear you are about to be disappointed.

Last year this time I was dismayed to find the lobster gone from the menu. Sorry folks... I don't think it has returned.

We were there last October and watched a man throw a fit over the sushi and lobster not being on the dining plan. Demanded (and got) the manager. The fit didn't help either. (But it made my meal "oh, so much more pleasant.")
