This is one of the posts...

Hello, Is anyone familiar with the McKechnie Brothers that moved from Scotland (falkirk??) to Canandaigua to open a brewery? I also have a life size pastel portriat completed in the 1880's that is of a female named Jessie McKechnie who came from Scotland. Please share any additional info.

Alexander McKechnie and his brother James came from Falkirk Scotland to Canandaigua,NY and started the brewery in the 1840's. It was the largest employer in Ontario County, but it burned down in the early 1950's. Alexander who was my great great grandfather, was married to Janet "Jessie" Wilson, also born in Falkirk. Both are buried in Woodlawn Cemetary in Canandaigua. James is buried there also. Jessie was born on 10/13/1823. Her parents were George and Janet Clarke Wilson of Dalkeith, Scotland. Janet was the daughter of Thomes and Isobel Hope Clarke. I have other births and deaths, and a bottle from the McKechnie brewing company.

Lifting up the inner layer of metal. It was a little thinner than the outer layer

I'm a little :sad1: that you're breaking into the safe - I was so hoping that you'd be able to find someone to crack the safe without actually breaking it...

That being said - this is VERY interesting! Thanks for driving to work to get your cable. It's great to see this stuff as it unfolds.

BTW - I hate to bring this up now, but shouldn't your hubby be wearing a mask?!?!? I mean, there's a possibility that the safe has abspestos, or the metal has lead...

If you look in the next picture, you can see he got curious and dug into the concrete in one little spot at the bottom.

I tried to take some close up pictures of the hole. You can see a little bit of some red carpet that I assume lines the bottom of the safe. I can't but my husband says he can see a wood box inside ???????????????????????

He was afraid to ruin the paper, but he managed to get out the piece of paper you see sticking out of the whole. Wait until you see the date on this thing!!!
