Whenever my family & I vacationed in WDW I would keep all the receipts, maps, parking tix etc so I could see how much we spent that year & how much the parks have changed.

I was cleaning out my WDW box & came across some receipts from 2006 & pulled out one from 50's Prime Time Cafe (Dinner) I got the latest prices from the dining section on the menus posted here

2006 2009
Coke Float 3.99 4.29
Glow Blue Beverage 5.99 6.49
Onion Rings 4.99 5.99
SMORES 4.99 4.79 (maybe they overcharged us)
Draft Budwiser 4.50 5.00
Salmon 16.99 20.99 :scared1:
Pot Roast 14.29 18.99 :scared1:
Grilled Tuna 15.99 17.49

I also found Turkey legs $5.39 now $6.59

I think I'll start a spread sheet to see how things change moving forward... seems the only thing that never increases is my paycheck :rotfl2:

With all that said......I'm still going to Disney! :)

Thanks for posting. This is very interesting. Recently DH found a receipt from 2005 when he was on a business trip for a some kind of combo meal at Lotus Blossom Cafe in China for $5.99. The meals are now $7.99.

In 2005 the Turkey legs were $4.75 and I'm pretty sure that they were bigger.

Wow....I was inspired to get my receipts from our first trip in 2000. 50's Prime Time Dinner, September 2000 compared to current:

Fried Chicken Dinner: 12.95 / 14.99
2 Child Mac and Cheese: 9.98 / 15.18
Chicken and Biscuit: 12.95 / (not on menu anymore)
Pot Roast: 13.95 / 16.99
Onion rings: 3.95 / 7.99
3 Shakes: 11.85 / 14.97

I don't have the detailed receipt, but the credit card copy from the LeCellier dinner from the same trip only totals $73.10 for 5 people!!

A double cheeseburger combo meal from Cosmic Rays was $6.15 w/tax!

If that's the smoked turkey legs, DH got one a week ago at DHS and it was over $8 with tax.

On the Smores -- remember when they used to be a really big helping - enough for several people to share and then they downsized the portion to more like one/two people could eat - maybe that accounts for the difference in pricing.

So you confirmed the supply/demand theory. From 2006-2008 Disney raised food and hotel prices. From 2008-2009 they continued to raise food prices but discounted hotel prices.

That's definitely the reason for the smores pricing difference. I have pictures showing that the current portion is exactly half the size of the old one. It's easy to tell since it's on a graham cracker! I refuse to order it now just on principal that they effectively doubled the price. :scared1: I can understand some price increases, but this is one that just really gets to me.

$8 for a turkey leg!!??? :scared1: I thought that the leg was the cheapest part of the turkey (aside from all the inside stuff that no-body would want)! Luckily I don't eat them!
