I got an e-mail from Chase the other day asking me to please activate my credit card. It wasn't a scam, I do indeed have a Chase credit card, and I received my yearly renewal card in late November. Well, I just stuck it in my purse and forgot all about it.
When I got the e-mail, I dug the card out of my purse and called the number to activate it. I then logged on to my account to get the particulars, and lo and behold, I have a $50 cash reward on the card! I can get cash, apply it to the balance, buy something with it, or just leave it there. I didn't even know that this particular card was a rewards type account!
I think I might apply it to the balance, as we're trying to pay off credit cards this year. The interest rate on this card is relatively low, so I think it may now be my card of choice when I find I need to use a credit card. We've agreed that every new purchase will be paid in full each month, along with the regular monthly payment, so no extra fees incurred.
What a nice start to the new year!
