Found money!!

my first bank account was opened with over 50 dollars in just pennies that i found on the ground. The bank thought i was crazy. And i could barely lift the tin to carry it into the bank. All hand rolled to, back before these counters...

I was always a change hog. And now i save change in a big 5gal water jug.

Lol,me too. Except, I'm using a WDW popcorn bucket right now.

My DDs can find money anywhere ... even in places where people wouldn't normally have money out. We put it in our "Disney fund".
All that little change does add up.

I've heard of others doing this too. Bet that does add up!

Our grocery stores list the amount saved right on their reciepts so one thing we're thinking of starting is looking at our grocery reciepts and seeing how much we *saved*. Then we'd take that amount and tuck it into another safe spot and see how much we *saved* over the year.
This might actually rev me up a bit to try harder to use coupons! LOL[/QUOTE]

On the use of coupons, I have done this, whatever I saved with coupons. I would take that amount and put it in the vacation fund. Not only at the grocery stores, but at dept stores, restaurant's, movies. Now with that said not just going out to use a coupon, but on things that we normally do or buy. I paid for a long weekend for DH and I with PH passes, and DDXDP, in about 10 months. :thumbsup2:cool1:.

We pick up change too and add it to our vacation savings. We have 2 big water jugs that we have for change. When I empty my purse which is daily I just throw all the change in our WDW savings and DH does the same every night.
My DH also works 3 huge apartment complexes as the head maintenance and does a morning and evening round at each to make sure the parking lots are clean and he finds money all the time. This past week he found a $10 bill and he finds lots of change daily. And it all ends up in the vacation savings!

I love reading all these stories about finding money! I have two "found money" stories: when I was about 9 we were on a Disney vacation and were about halfway through our trip when we went to one of those famous t-shirt stores on one of the many retail strips in Orlando. When walking out, I was behind my Mom and two brothers, with my Dad behind me, when I saw them all stepping over something. I, of course, couldn't just step over something without stopping to examine it - and it was a receipt wrapped around about $30! As a 9-year-old in the 80s, that was a fortune! And of course, I spent it all in the parks. :)

My second found money story was when I was 27. I was dead broke and still a smoker (I know, I know). I had about $10 to my name and stopped at the gas station near my university to put $5 in the gas tank and buy a pack of smokes. I was actually standing in line pondering how stupid I was to be buying cigarettes when I couldn't even buy food when I looked down. There on the floor, in clear sight of everyone in the gas station, was a $100 bill; I snatched it up and tapped the guy in front of me and asked if he dropped any money. He gave me an irritated look for touching him and growled "no" at me, then walked off. There was no one else in line, so that $100 paid for a full tank of gas, a carton of cigarettes, and groceries!
