I was at visiting a site that listed all the links to State abandoned property. I found some for me and I really hope it's what I think it is because it'll pay my deposit for SSR! LOL

Check it out....you may find some long lost money. This is the second time in 4 years I've found some. The first was an insurance escrow I didn't even know existed. That was worth $140. Make sure to check your maiden names too! That's what mine was under.

I just wish the darn state offices were open today so I can find out! But, I'll know tomorrow!!!!:bounce:

Here's the link. Make sure to check every state you ever lived in. Also, someone else had said to check every state because sometimes it can be listed under where the place of business is. For instance you live in one state but an old insurance company or mortgage company was based in another.

Happy hunting and good luck!!

P.S. You're better off checking all states individually because when I looked at Missingmoney.com, it wasn't listed there.

I found my name in the paper this past summer. It was a complete surprise, and was enough to do a 30 point add on in our DVC account.

I just found my uncles name in our local paper last month, and also a fellow choir members name. It pays to check the list.

I found money at one of those sites once too. It was a small (under $50) that came from a life insurance policy my dad had. Good grief, when I called the Massachusetts department that handles those things, I was told that the processing fee would have been more than the amount that I was going to claim for my mother.

Hope you have better luck but that's why they call my state Taxachusetts.

Thanks for the reminder. We need to check this again. About five years ago we checked and there was $2000 for me and over $1000 for my husband. BIL had $450, I told people at work and some of them had found money too. one man also found over $2000 and a friends husband had around $200. Another friends mother had $300 which was a lot for someone on a fixed income.

When i first found the site i couldn't believe all the names that were listed on these sites. Ours was from an old stockplan at work that we thought they had put into our new stock plan, We always make sure our job has our address. We have only moved 2 times in 27yrs, but the checks were still turned over to the state saying i guess that they didn't have our correct address. Our checks are direct deposit and they mail the stubs to our house every week, plus at the time we both had 20 + years each at work. :( Shocked us that we had money for people that can't be found.

I searched the files a few years ago and I found my name and my sister's name in Virginia where we lived as children. The info showed our correct names (including middle initials) and the small town where we had lived. We sent in all the requested info--and it was really hard finding an address from 40 years ago!--but they said it wasn't us. I feel sure it was--anybody know of the next step?

I'd just try it again. Who knows, maybe the person working there messed up.....you know, like calling CRO! LOL

Found my dads name......wasn't there a year ago......It is important to keep checking back. :)

I just found my MIL's name listed for 2 life insurance policies. I'll have to let her know.....I searched for my whole family and that's all I came up with. Thanks for the link!

Nothing for me but I found some for Dh's 90+ yr old grandmother. Sent the info along to dh's sister. Maybe they'll send me a finders fee. HA HA

We found money, too, a few months ago.

DH had 2 old paychecks with the state of MI, I had one.

My Grandpa had money, my SIL, our doctor, my Dad's boss, etc.

I've gotten a couple of those cards saying we have money and they've offered to "find" it for us. I know usually that is money that you can find yourself but I'm not finding anything. Any ideas on other places to look?
