We have found a solution to our painful 785 day wait until we can go back to WDW.

Check out my new ticker!!

Lovely - where are you staying?

We have been to DLP a fair bit and love it. While I don't think you can compare WDW and DLP, I am looking forward to visiting WDW to experience an 'American' Disney park as opposed to a 'European' Disney park.

I'd love to fit a visit in to DLP before our WDW trip (just less than a year away now :yay:), but our trip is costing so much and we are just about to have a lot of building work/extension done on our house, there's just no way. We haven't been since 2009, but having been a few times in quite quick succession, DH had enough by that point and declared no more Disney until WDW in 2015 .

You don't have long to wait until your trip - at least you can still visit Paris with minimal planning (for now anyway!). I hope you enjoy it :cheer2:.

We've never been to DLP before but have been to Paris many times. :):)

We are staying in the Kyriad hotel. It is one of their partner hotels so was much cheaper. We had a very tight budget and managed to get a week for £850 including Eurostar, hotel and tickets.

I don't like British theme parks in general so am hoping that a european take on it might be slightly different, but nothing can beat WDW.

We have decided to try our best not to compare the two as I now WDW will blow DLP out of the water. It is a very nice stop gap though and we get to see and experience lots of different things.

One thing I am worried about is that it is only open 10am-8:30pm and Disney Village looks tiny so what the heck do we do at night? We are not club or pub people.

DLP is good, but, be prepared for a difference in attitude of the guests, some European countries have no concept of queing or good manners, smoking is everywhere, even in lines. However, you may be going when they are not there (The Spanish, in case you were wondering) It is more expensive, but, TBH many of the rides at DLP are superior to WDW that have the same name and do Crush Coaster early as that is the most popular ride at MGM Studios (think TSM queues) Go with an open mind and don't think it will feel the same as WDW, it won't. I used to go a lot, first time in 1997, but, there have been changes and not for the good, check the times of the rides, when I last went in June 2012 most of the rides shut at 6.30 despite the park being open until 10pm and there were no shows. I hope in the two years since they have sorted all that out. I would happily go back again, but, only between Sept and March, never in the summer, I prefer cold and wet to the problems I had with the Spanish, one woman actually tried to use DDs head as a tripod for her camera because we refused to let her and her kids go in front of us five minutes before the parade started when we had waited over an hour (we also got a shedload of verbal abuse)

If I had £1 for everytime there is a 'comparison' thread comparing WDW to DLP, honestly, I could afford to go to WDW every year :rotfl2:. Don't compare (as I said earlier, they can't be compared as totally different beasts and offer different experiences). Just go with an open mind and enjoy :goodvibes.

I haven't stayed at a partner hotel. We've always been very lucky and stayed at the DLH which is beautiful and sooo handy as it's literally at the MK gates. I actually expect to have a bit of a culture shock in WDW as I'm so used to just walking out of my room at DLH and being in Main Street within about 5 mins ;), no buses or anything!

I've stayed at the Kyriad - it's fine. About 20 minutes walk to the gates. You go past a petrol garage on the way which sells water, soda etc. for literally a tenth of the cost that they want in the parks.

DLP doesnt compare the WDW so just don't, or you will be disappointed. Take it for what it is, and you will have a great time.

I wasn't saying I wuld compare them as it isn't possible. They are two totally different types of park.

I am used to Europeans as I am one. However I am from England and we tend to be a bit quieter and politer than some of our neighbours do in these enviroments.

I am really looking forward to the whole holiday and it is something i can cross off my bucket list, but i doubt we will make a habit out of going there.

We are going end of sept beg of October so am assuming the lines will be not as horrendous as the summer months.
