I was just looking at my emailed reservation info from WDW, and I discovered that they have us staying one day longer than we intended, which, I'm assuming means we've also payed for an extra day's worth of tickets, too ! So...in the true spirt of the boards, when I call tomorrow to get this fixed, should I just have the money refunded, OR should I upgrade our resort?
We're currently booked at AS Movies, but I'm a little concerned about the room size with three kiddos in it (9m, 3, 4). I'd love a fmaily suite, or a bigger room at a "nicer" resort that includes some extras that the values don't have, like a fridge, a hot tub by the pools...For some reason, my Mac won't load the WDW page that gives price quotes, so I don't know how much money I might be getting back to roll over. What do you guys think?!:confused3 Stay at ASM, or move on up!? (and if so, where?)
One other question: with three little kids, how much easier would it be to stay at a place on the monorail rather than do the busses?

Well, on your reservation if it states one day longer.....the differance would be one nights stay....however it appears you have a package. Does it state what your pass is?
I would go for a mod...more amenities..a bit more room. My DD10 and I did POP this year....SHE even commented how small the room was. A suite would be nice, but your still in the same resort.
I would call tomorrow, find out how much exactly was "overcharged"....and see what it would be for a mod....CSR or CBR...CBR has the largest rooms of any mod at 344 sq ft I believe....however they are doing some refurb on their main pool next year.
(not sure when you are going:)

It would be very EASY to stay on the monorail with the kiddos!! I would almost suggest it with their ages:) However, the money amount will go way up, unless you can get a good discount and/or code!!

Good luck and dont forget to update!

I had this problem too....on three different Macs (!) till I found the answer on Disney troubleshooting page. The problem is Safari, their quotes pages don't work with it. Download Netscape to use as the browser if you want to get quotes from the Disney site. (It's a quick easy download and Disney has the link on the technical page on their site)

Well you reservation should say how many days tickets you have as well. And if you are going more than 4 days the price only raises a few dollars per person, per day after that. So no big refund from that. And you will get one nights stay reimbursed as well. which isn't alot, but a nice chunck of change. But am I reading correct whe nyo usay that there is FIVE of you at AS Movies. Because technically they only allow 4. But yo ucan use a crib. I just know that my DD was out of a crib before her second birthday. But everyone is different, and maybe your child wil ldo well in one. Mine would scream though. :headache: LOL!
So depending on the room cost and how long you are staying, you are only going to most likely have 10-20 dollars a day for upgrade. Not enough to make a difference. But you could check out CBR, becuase I saw deal there that made it about that mcuh more, and I belive the rooms are slightly larger than the values. Either that, or take the money for extra souveigners!:woohoo:

The OP says her youngest is 9m (9months) I believe that child will be very comfortable still in a crib.

Unfortunately yes, as another person wrote, you aren't saving a whole lot, certainly not enough to cover moving up to a moderate...but if you CAN save more, you probably will appreciate the extra room. Don't get me wrong, we actually really enjoy ASMo! Have stayed at Deluxes, mods and the values over the years and just ret'd last mth to ASMo. It is a very fun resort, great food court and very good bus svc. That said, the rooms are small. But so are your children. I think you'd be fine, and they'd really enjoy the theme, but if you can swing a moderate, you'll probably be happy w/ the extra space. Esp since the crib and stroller(s) will be taking up extra room too! Let us know what you do! Good luck!

LOL! Thanks. I thought 9m was referring to a 9 year old male! LOL1 I had never seen that before. Yes, the baby should do fine in a crib! :rolleyes1

Ok, well I called, and it turns out that our package is for the correct dates, but they had something about us being "in the area" until Jan. 29th, so that's why the ressie read the way it did :confused3 . So...no fantastic surprise room upgrades for me. Anyway, I had that corrected, so it all reads Jan. 24-28. While on the call I discovered that they have us in a prefered room, which I didn't request, and they also have charged us insurance. Do they tack these things on automatically? Should I cancel the insurance? Do I want to keep a prefered room? Are they really any easier/better? I thought I would wait to hear the verdict of the experts here before I changed anything.:grouphug:

My opinion: keep the preferred, dump the insurance.

Dump the insurance, keep the preferred. It means closer to bus stops, food court etc. Worth it in my opinion.

Regarding the Mac issue, you can also download Firefox for a browser. I've found that works best across the board. :thumbsup2

That doesn't sound right to me still. There is no reason that they would put you till the 29th unless they had you staying till then. They could care less where you went after you checked out. Is this through Disney? maybe call AAA or some other travel agent and get a quote for your exact package. Did you get a discount going through Disney? If not, you may get a better deal through AAA.

I thought it was weird, too! Maybe they had the date messed up in regards to the Magical Express and our luggage was going to arrive home a day later than us! :rotfl2: Yes, our package is through WDW. 4n5d MYW package with park hopper and water parks and a basic dining plan, 2 adults, 2 children at ASMu (in, apparently a prefered room), and a fridge for $1719.12. I'll have to call and cancel the insurance, so that should knock it down over $100. Before long they have a note on my name: "Most annoying customer."

Ok, I just had a thought. If I drop the insurance, which, just for the sake of conversation, lets say runs $30 a day, would give me enough money to move up to a moderate resort without being out any more money than has already been charged, right?
I've got a prefered value room: $94
In-room fridge:$10
Insurance: about $30 per day
Total: $134 a day housing :teacher:

Do I have this right? Would my MYW discount for the park hopper/water park still apply? I would love someplace resort-wise a little quiet to give me time to "recover" from the parks, and the boys would love nice pools (hopefully the weather is semi-decent). I'd also love a little more space for the crib and stroller factor. Suggestions?

I think you're freaking your self out. The values are not "crazy town USA" they are spread out and yea they are noisy, IMO its a good noise. Its happy people noise. It's not a jackhammer outside your door.

The moderates and the values all have outside hallways, so you really aren't going to be getting away from the kids all that much at a moderate either.

My advice is to stick with where you are, its in your budget and ENJOY your vacation. :cheer2:

Drop the ins.....drop the hopper and extras...stick with a base ticket....and go to a standard at a Mod!! There are sooo many ways to play with your reservation to get it to a place you will be happy with $$ wise:) lol

DO the math....if you think you will be at a value...wishing you were at a Mod ...then do it. I have never been to a Mod, so I am no help there.

I loved Pop....especially in the 60's area, lakeside, which was not preferred either. ALot of folks say Mods are not that much different than a value....just larger, more of a resort atmposphere...do what will make YOU happy:)

I did even notice that OP had hoppers and extras.....drop those and for sure you can get yourself into a mod.

IMO, first timers with little kids shouldn't get the hoppers, its all you can do to get your self to one park a day. let alone hop and extra, no way.

OP, if you think that you are going to continue to go to WDW each year, I suggest that you get just 2 days of park tickets, upgrade to CBR and enjoy your trip.

Our first trip we tried to do it all, and all we got out of it was a cranky *** 2yo boy, for that matter, we were all beat. Its almost like an information overload if you try to fit too much into one trip, especially your first trip.

If you bought the ins through Disney it is a flat rate. For us it was $100/adult and covered the kids. So that's $200/5 nights = $40/day. (even better!) The rest of your math checks out. Now for $144 at a moderate the fridge will be included. I would also consider not having the water parks added to your ticket and probably the hopper too.

The water parks..you DEF. will not need w/ such young children. Hopping is nice, but honestly, we use to hop, now we plan our days a bit more and take the break but return to the same park. Others really like to switch parks for the evening or go back to MK every night. You'll know what's best for your family. But dropping the "plus" option will def. reduce your costs further.

So...do you want to pocket all this savings, stay at ASMo, keep the preferred room but drop the ins. & plus options. It will give you more spending money, you'll be in a fun hotel, the kids will love all the large icons, the food court and bus svc is great. BUT, you'll be in a small room loosing more of the space w/ the crib and stroller(s).

OR..do you want to take your savings and move up to a moderate. yes, the room will be bigger, but you probably won't have the money to stay in a preferred area and the mods can be VERY large. Except for POFQ, which would be my recommendation if you go this route. Small hotel, no need (or ability) to book preferred. Everything is close and you have the nice option of taking the boat to DTD. It has good bus svc (yes it shares w/ POR but it usually only does 1 stop there b4 the bus is full and takes off for the parks. Also POFQ is where the bus 1st loads...and where it 1st drops off!!!) and a nice food court though not as large as ASMo. BUT, while a beautiful hotel, w/ a GREAT pool and nice slide...it has a New Orleans theme...which just isn't as over the top as ASMo. I mean the kids will really go WOW when they see Buzz and Woody etal at ASMO!!! They'll go WOW at the POFQ pool.

Go to allearsnet.com, if you haven't already, and look at pics of both hotels. If I can be of further help let me know. My children are now 5 and 8 have stayed at many hotels and still really love ASMo!! POFQ is a close 2nd along w/ CSR. Good luck!
